Gallery Yujeong is hosting Han Yun-je's solo exhibition, 'Forms Passed Through Light, Settling into Color,' from the 30th until January 15, 2027.

This exhibition is centered on the relationship between light, structure, and color. Departing from the conventional exhibition method of placing works individually, it is characterized by utilizing the exhibition walls, lighting, and sculptural works as a single spatial compositional element.

The exhibition features a collaboration with the global paint brand Dunn-Edwards and Kim Eun-young, director of Bristol Paints. Nam Ji-yoon, global team leader at Gallery Yujeong, managed the planning, applying Director Kim's 'Simplace Painting' technique to the exhibition space configuration.

Dunn-Edwards paint was used on the exhibition walls. The wall colors and Han's acrylic grid structures were arranged to influence each other, allowing viewers to observe the visual changes that occur during the process of light passing through or reflecting.

In particular, the walls were utilized not merely as a background for the works, but as a core component of the exhibition. The design ensures that light and shadows passing through the acrylic structures overlap with the colors of the walls, creating different forms depending on the space.

Artist Han Yun-je has continued installation and sculpture work that explores the relationship between structure, light, and space. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Hongik University's College of Fine Arts, completed his doctoral course at the same graduate school, and currently lectures at Hongik University.

His works are held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, K-water, and the Samchully Foundation. He has also conducted spatial art projects at 'Gaonnuri' in Manhattan, New York.

In this solo exhibition, he utilizes fabric and mirrors in a new way alongside the acrylic structures used in his previous works.

By combining rigid structures with flexible fabric, he configured the pieces so that images reflected in mirrors overlap with the actual forms of the sculptures. As viewers move around the works or as the direction of light changes, the visible images also differ.

Fabric was used as a material that reveals different physical properties from the acrylic structures. Mirrors play the role of reflecting the artwork and the surrounding space, altering the visually perceived range depending on the viewing position.

The colors applied throughout the exhibition hall were also configured to influence the perception of the works' forms. The method involves the colors of the sculptures themselves, the colors of the walls, and the shadows formed by natural light appearing together.

Gallery Yujeong explained that in this exhibition, they conducted a collaboration between the artist and an external brand by designing the artwork and the exhibition environment together.

Lee Su-jeong, representative of Gallery Yujeong, stated, "We are delighted to present an innovative collaboration with Dunn-Edwards at this important juncture as Han Yun-je, a leading figure in the Korean art scene, makes a full-scale expansion onto the international stage. We will continue to present experimental projects that break down the boundaries between art and daily life, and between brands and fine art."
