Artist Shim Seong-hee explores daily life in solo exhibition

| NBNTV = Ju Hyeon-ung | Artist Shim Seong-hee's solo exhibition, 'Vague Daily Life,' will be held at the main building of Gallery T Dongtan from the 10th to the 31st.

This exhibition follows her previous solo show, 'Aesthetics of Daily Life,' which was held at the new building of Gallery T Dongtan this past May.

The term 'hamumut-hada' used in the exhibition title refers to a state of being deeply satisfied and content. As Shim transfers scenes and objects encountered in her repetitive daily life onto the canvas, she expresses the memories and emotions remaining within them.

In her works, one can also see the experience she accumulated while working as an architect and space designer. She uses architectural elements such as building facades, windows, walls, and stairs as the basic structure of the canvas, adding dots, lines, and repetitive brushstrokes on top.

Laundry, ladders, and windows are subjects that appear consistently in her works. The artist captures the traces of a day and her state of mind in the laundry, and the movement between reality and ideals in the ladder. Windows are used as a device to represent the gaze looking outside from a familiar space.

At 3 p.m. on the 15th, during the exhibition period, a docent program will be held where the artist will personally explain her works. She plans to explain the meanings of the objects appearing in the works and the process of applying an architectural perspective to her paintings to the visitors.

Curator Jo Su-yeon of Gallery T stated, "This exhibition is an opportunity to re-examine the daily landscapes that artist Shim Seong-hee has long explored through the emotional language of being 'hamumut-hada.' The houses, windows, laundry, and ladders in the works go beyond mere scenes of life to show the way we endure and remember each day, as well as the small sense of stability and comfort found within them.""
