Artist Ji Hee Kim has continued her artistic activities focusing on intense colors, decorative images, and symbolic character expressions. In particular, she has visually expressed stories regarding the desires, emotions, and human relationships of modern people by utilizing glasses decorated with jewels and the facial expressions of figures.
The representative series 'Sealed Smile' is a body of work where such expressive methods are prominent. It consists of images that reveal emotions and the inner self by combining human faces with decorative elements.
In the subsequent 'Trunk' series, she expanded the themes and expressive methods handled in her previous work into different images and narratives.
Kim has also conducted various brand collaborations in addition to domestic and international exhibitions. She has showcased collaborative works with global brands such as Royal Salute and Maotai.
Her work has also been selected as the cover for high school art textbooks. This art book contains these exhibition and collaboration activities along with the artist's major work records.
The production team organized the contents focusing on the periods when the works were released and the flow of the work. They explained that the book was planned not just to introduce images of individual works, but to allow viewers to observe the changes between major series and the creative process.
Art director Jung Na-yeon said, "We contemplated ways for the emotion of encountering works in an exhibition hall to continue even after the exhibition ends. We wanted to create an art book that records the artistic world an artist has built up over a long time, so that people can unfold it again close to their daily lives and keep it for a long time."
She added, "Ji Hee Kim's works have the charm of capturing attention with intense imagery while simultaneously allowing one to discover new meanings when encountering them again after time has passed. We hope this art book serves as an opportunity to view the artist's 20 years as a single flow and to understand the works more deeply."
