Galleryt Dongtan Hosts Kim Young-jin Solo Exhibition 'To my dearest: To You, Who is Kinder Than Anyone'
Artist Kim Young-jin presents a solo exhibition at Galleryt Dongtan, exploring memories of family, love, and longing through 100 different colors.
Paintings by artist Kim Young-jin, which express memories of family, love, and longing through approximately 100 different colors, will meet visitors in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do. The exhibition features images drawn from nature—such as flowers, stars, the moon, and forests—infused with stories of personal memory and relationships.

Galleryt is hosting Kim Young-jin's solo exhibition, 'To my dearest: To You, Who is Kinder Than Anyone,' at the Galleryt new building in Lotte Department Store Dongtan from the 23rd until November 25th.
The exhibition consists of paintings created based on materials obtained from the artist's relationships with family and those around him, as well as memories of time passed. He expresses memories and longing for loved ones, as well as hope discovered in daily life, through natural landscapes and various colors.
The works feature visual elements that Kim has consistently utilized, including round circles and dots, as well as moon jars, forests, and birds. He reveals personal memories and emotions by arranging shapes taken from nature alongside abstract expressions on a single canvas.
The use of color is also a major characteristic. Kim reduces the proportion of black and utilizes a technique of layering approximately 100 different colors. By composing the screen around bright colors, he expresses the depth and texture of the works through the effect of overlapping different colors.
The exhibition title, 'To my dearest: To You, Who is Kinder Than Anyone,' contains the heart being conveyed to a precious person. While it begins as a letter sent to a specific subject, the stories within the works encompass various relationships remembered in one's own life, such as family and friends.
The sentence left by the artist, "My life to you, your life to me," also aligns with the theme of the exhibition. He transferred the memories and emotions left in each other's lives into paintings and used the individual experiences formed within relationships as subject matter.
Artist Kim Young-jin graduated from Yongin University with a major in Western Painting and also completed graduate studies in Western Painting. Since holding his first solo exhibition in 2010, he has held 30 solo exhibitions to date.
He has also been active in domestic and international art markets. He has participated in major art fairs including KIAF Seoul and Hwarang Art Festival, as well as the Affordable Art Fair in Singapore and the Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong. Recently, he has also engaged in collaborative works such as exhibitions at Hyundai Department Store and the Ceragem Canvas Project.
"Kim Young-jin's work starts from individual memory and longing, but ultimately expands into a story of love and relationships that we all experience," said Galleryt curator Jo Su-yeon. "Through this exhibition, we hope visitors will follow the bright colors and tender landscapes in the works and take time to remember the precious beings who have stayed by their sides."
