P1Harmony debates 1.4 billion won lump sum vs. 2.4 billion won annuity

P1Harmony members reveal differing life philosophies and economic values in the latest episode of 'UNMUTE P1H'…

The group P1Harmony revealed distinct differences in values among its members regarding various hypothetical scenarios.

In the recently released second episode of 'UNMUTE P1H', the members shared their thoughts through various games and discussion topics. The video began with a 'One-Bite ASMR' game featuring popping candy, pickled radish, and aloe. The members rated different foods, resulting in Intak taking first place while Taewoo finished last. As a penalty, Taewoo was tasked with dressing up as 'Olaf'.

"Owner or friend?"... Toy Story scenarios spark debate

The discussion then moved to a hypothetical question inspired by the world of the movie 'Toy Story'. Members were split on whether to stay by an owner's side in a moving box (White Team) or jump into a truck to join their friends (Black Team).

Even without knowing the specific details of the film, the members presented their own logic. One member compared the owner to a parent, arguing that they must stay by the owner's side because while friends can change, parents cannot. Conversely, another member argued that only friends truly recognize a toy's identity, stating that if an owner only sees them as a mere object, they would choose to go with their friends. They emphasized that only friends know the toys are actually alive, discussing the tension of being perceived as mere objects by an owner.

1.4 Billion Lump Sum vs. 2.4 Billion Annuity: What Would P1Harmony Choose if They Won the Lottery?

Regarding the choice to jump into the truck, concerns about an "uncertain future where you don't know where the truck is going" clashed with the sentiment that "even if it is uncertain, I would choose friendship." The members even noted the risk that the truck could be heading to an incinerator, creating a confrontation between a certain future and an uncertain friendship. While one member argued it is natural to choose certainty, another expressed that the friendship of the six members is more important, even if the future is unstable.

"1.4 billion won lump sum vs. 2.4 billion won annuity"... Economic value and investment efficiency

The second topic was a more realistic economic dilemma: choosing between a 1.4 billion won lump sum received immediately after taxes (Black Team) or an annuity totaling 2.4 billion won, paid out as 10 million won every month for 20 years (White Team).

The members focused on the discrepancy in the total amounts. While the annuity is numerically higher at 2.4 billion won, some members placed a higher value on the lump sum. One member cited investment efficiency, noting, "The difference generated by having 1.4 billion won in hand right now and investing it over 20 years will be much larger than the difference in the total amount." The group also exchanged views on investment probability and stable distribution methods.

On the other hand, some emphasized the importance of stable monthly income. While one member noted, "The stability of receiving 10 million won every month is also very good," they also pointed out the difficulty of asset management, adding, "When money comes in little by little every month, so much money leaks away without me even realizing it." Ultimately, the members revealed diverging economic perspectives, weighing immediate investment returns against stable monthly cash flow.
