Zeus: God of Pride (hereafter referred to as Zeus), a new MMORPG published by Com2uS and developed by A-Button, has passed its first month since launch. Having officially launched on August 26 and successfully settled into its initial commercial success, market attention is now shifting beyond the initial burst of popularity toward user retention rates and the ability to secure long-term competitiveness.

By nature, new MMORPGs are a genre where evaluations are sharply divided during the early stages of release.

From differences in performance between classes to growth speed, monetization structures, hunting efficiency, and convenience, user playstyles and investment levels vary wildly. Consequently, even within the same system, evaluations are split between extremes. This is also why it is practically impossible to expect perfect balance immediately after launch.

The atmosphere in the Zeus-related communities is no different. In various game communities such as the official cafe and Inven, intense information exchange and debates are ongoing among users regarding hunting efficiency by class, accuracy stats, growth routes, equipment settings, and hunting ground selection.

While there are voices of dissatisfaction regarding the hunting efficiency or combat performance of specific classes, it is premature to label this as a balance collapse. Zeus clearly distinguishes the roles and unique characteristics of each class, such as Knight, Assassin, Ranger, Oracle, and Artisan. This is because the pros and cons of each class vary significantly depending on the content enjoyed, such as PvP, boss raids, party play, and economic activities, rather than just simple hunting efficiency.

Rather, the hottest topic among users since the launch is how to grow without being blocked. In particular, accuracy is cited as a core stat for early-stage growth.

As the difficulty rises sharply from certain points during main quest progression and the requirements for accuracy and equipment settings increase, users are actively sharing strategies to overcome so-called "death zones," such as methods to achieve appropriate accuracy levels, filling collections, and configuring cost-effective equipment.

It is difficult to condemn this simply as a malicious growth barrier (a "wall of tears") in the game. This is because the sense of achievement gained from growing a character and breaking through higher-level content is the essential fun of an MMORPG.

However, it is an urgent task for the developers to reinforce more detailed growth paths and in-game guides so that low-to-mid spending users do not experience sudden growth stagnation and feel a sense of deprivation without sufficient guidance.

The user response to the AI mode, which was presented as a point of differentiation from existing MMORPGs, is also a noteworthy aspect. The AI mode is an idle convenience system where the character continues to hunt and farm at pre-designated hunting grounds even when the user is offline.

In the community, know-how on utilizing AI mode to raise characters while sleeping, working, or playing other games is shared as a key tip. Continuous in-depth research by users continues, from selecting optimal hunting grounds where AI mode efficiency is maximized to potion settings and inventory weight management.

This AI mode is also a key factor that will determine the long-term success of Zeus. Due to the nature of existing MMORPGs that require extreme time attacks and fatigue, a sharp drop in playtime is inevitable if users play other games simultaneously.

However, since growth is guaranteed even in an offline state, the AI mode exerts a powerful Lock-in effect that keeps users attached to Zeus even while they enjoy other content.

Of course, flaws exist. While manual operation allows users to preempt optimal positions by considering monster density or the number of other users hunting in the same area, complaints are being raised that the current AI mode cannot make such fluid situational judgments, leading to a sharp drop in hunting efficiency.

For the AI mode to move beyond being a mere cosmetic offline hunting feature and settle as a perfect core system, the key lies in how precisely user play patterns and variables can be reflected in the AI.

The in-game economic ecosystem is also a major point that must be critically addressed. Currently, sharp debates are occurring among users regarding the preservation of item value, diamond market prices, exchange fees, hunting profit rates, and the effectiveness of the Artisan, an economy-specialized class.

Com2uS and A-Button ambitiously introduced features such as the inter-server integrated exchange to reduce capital gaps between servers and the Midas Vault to link the production and consumption of currency, but it remains to be seen whether these can perfectly control in-game inflation.

Above all, the issue of gold farms (illegal macros), a chronic problem for K-MMORPGs, is a ticking time bomb for long-term service. The company announced a hardline response prior to launch, including exchange identity verification, AI-based anomaly detection, and 24-hour monitoring.

Since the abnormal supply of currency leads directly to a collapse in item value and user exodus, the true test will be whether the current defenses can hold and protect a healthy economic structure.

The pace of content expansion is a positive trend. On the 2nd, Com2uS opened the first new server group, Demeter, quickly injecting new content such as guild raids and the Midas Vault. This was followed on the 9th by the opening of the Colosseum season, where intense player battles take place, signaling the expansion of end-game competitive content.

At this one-month mark, it is difficult to prematurely conclude the long-term success of Zeus. However, the current community ecosystem is far from being filled with blind praise or one-sided criticism. Users are still intensely debating class performance, accuracy requirements, equipment farming, AI efficiency, optimal hunting grounds, and the economic system.

The fact that users are actively devising strategies and exchanging information with passion is, paradoxically, proof that there is still enough charm in this game to invest time and money.

In an MMORPG, the true death sentence is not balance controversies, but indifference—when even the slightest debate over growth and competition disappears.

Ultimately, the true report card for Zeus depends on management from this point forward, rather than the initial ranking at launch. The key will be whether the developers can prevent user exodus by addressing growth barriers, improve the AI mode's shortcomings, stabilize the economy by cracking down on gold farms, and provide enough competitive content to give users a reason to keep getting stronger.

Having passed its first month, Zeus has moved past the stage of proving initial hype and is now on a true testing ground to see if it can retain its players. The fact that users are still fiercely asking "how can I get stronger?" is an encouraging green light.

The task remaining for Com2uS and A-Button is to perfectly manage the delicate balance between growth, competition, and the in-game economy so that those user questions do not turn into resignation and departure.
