Sindoh Co., Ltd. deploys privacy-protecting CCTV at Dan Dae High School

NBNTV = Reporter Joo Hyeon-ung | Sindoh Co., Ltd. is launching video security solutions that perform real-time de-identification of facial information from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in schools. The system is designed to allow the addition of de-identification cameras in specific areas while maintaining existing monitoring infrastructure.

Sindoh Co., Ltd. has begun full-scale operations in supplying specialized de-identification CCTV and monitoring systems for schools. Since last June, the company has been implementing and operating the system at Dankook University High School (Dan Dae High School) in Seoul.

The CCTV utilizes an artificial intelligence (AI) engine to de-identify the facial information of subjects during the recording stage. It features real-time intelligent masking, encrypted database storage for de-identified data, and administrator access management.

Encryption methods are also applied to video transmission and storage. The company explained that the system is configured so that authorized administrators can decrypt data through strictly defined procedures.

The solution also utilizes on-device AI. Because video processing occurs within the camera itself, the system can be integrated with existing school monitoring systems without the need for separate high-performance servers or additional software licenses. This allows schools to install cameras in specific areas requiring extra monitoring rather than replacing all existing facilities.

Dan Dae High School, the pilot site, added de-identification cameras to entrances, stairwells, and hallways while maintaining its existing monitoring equipment.

Fairy, the principal of Dan Dae High School, said, "Expectations for strengthening school safety have increased. Because faces are de-identified immediately upon filming, concerns regarding the exposure of personal information of students and staff, as well as the management burden during video viewing and removal, have been significantly reduced."

Sindoh Co., Ltd. plans to provide integrated services for schools, including product consulting, on-site installation, and maintenance. The company will also utilize its existing nationwide direct service and agency networks to support this business.

Starting with schools, the company intends to expand the application of its de-identification CCTV to government offices, corporate buildings, and residential complexes.
