Pumgo expands into Japan with Rakuten and Qoo10 Japan services

Pumgo launches new fulfillment services in Japan, including Rakuten integration and Amazon FBA, to support K-brand expansion.

According to TwoHands on the 25th, Pumgo has unveiled three new services targeting the Japanese market: Rakuten integration, mailbox (To-ham) delivery, and Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) services.

The new service lineup includes Rakuten integration, mailbox delivery, and Amazon FBA.

Rakuten integration connects orders from Rakuten, Japan's largest e-commerce platform, with the Pumgo system. This provides brand companies with seven-day-a-week delivery, a 22:00 cutoff on weekends, and a 14:00 cutoff during the Megawari (large-scale sale) period.

This allows brands to process weekend orders without shipping delays and maintain same-day shipping even during peak seasons when orders surge, ensuring stable delivery lead times. The service is being provided to existing clients expanding into Japan at no additional charge, with applications pouring in since the launch.

Mailbox delivery is a contactless method via mailboxes. Unlike Korea, where contactless delivery is common, face-to-face delivery involving the recipient's signature is the standard in Japan, though contactless methods have been gradually increasing recently.

Mailbox delivery allows recipients to receive products without direct contact while simultaneously reducing shipping costs. The service is optimized for brands with small SKUs, such as lipsticks, tints, and mascaras.

Pumgo has also launched Amazon FBA services within the Japan region.

Amazon FBA is a fulfillment service where inventory is placed in Amazon fulfillment centers, and Amazon handles packaging, shipping, returns, and customer service upon order. By providing Amazon FBA services, Pumgo has moved beyond direct B2C shipping to establish an integrated B2B2C pipeline that manages everything from stocking Amazon fulfillment centers in Japan to comprehensive fulfillment services.

Specifically, Pumgo and its partners provide a package of licensing procedures required for overseas businesses to operate locally—such as designating an Attorney for Customs Procedure (ACP), registering as a Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH), and filing for approvals from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare—supporting the entire process required to enter Amazon FBA.

“The Japanese commerce market has diverse channel characteristics and delivery preferences, so domestic and overseas logistics were often operated separately,” said Won Dasom, a director at Pumgo. “However, the expansion of K-brands into Japan is no longer just a trend, but a fundamental standard in the industry. Pumgo has established an infrastructure that allows inventory, orders, delivery, and returns to be operated in an integrated domestic and international form, enabling brand companies to manage logistics for Qoo10 Japan and Rakuten through a single dashboard.”
