JAY B: 'Just Buy Songpyeon' as He Struggles with Dough Making

Singer JAY B sent greetings to his fans through a video capturing his process of making Songpyeon to celebrate Chuseok.

In the video, JAY B prepared four colors of rice flour—mugwort, purple sweet potato, sweet pumpkin, and plain rice flour—to begin the dough making. JAY B showed his determination, saying, "I'm not confident, but I will do my best to try," but he faced difficulties during the kneading process. He described the texture of the dough as being "like Turkish ice cream" or "like thick gelato," expressing the hardships of kneading by hand. In particular, as the dough stuck to his hands, he remarked, "Please do not do this with your hands."

Using the dough, JAY B shaped them into cat shapes, heart shapes, and Ahgase shapes symbolizing his fandom. Navigating the process where the dough did not cooperate, he mentioned that "failure is the mother of success" and shared his reflection that one should have a grateful heart even when making a single piece of food. While shaping the dough, he conveyed his mindset, saying, "In the future, I should eat a piece of rice cake with a truly grateful heart. I used to just eat it thinking it would be delicious, but now I'm praying hard and hoping it turns out well."

"Slowly and carefully"... A message written with a brush

During the Songpyeon making process, JAY B picked up a brush to leave a handwritten message. He wrote, "One step forward, slowly. As I have always done, I will move forward one step at a time, slowly and carefully. Let's try many different things." He added a message for his fans, saying, "Thank you for always staying by my side. I hope you continue to live happily just as you are now. I'm counting on you."

Regarding the word "slowly," he explained the meaning of moving forward with caution, stating, "I think there is a difference between just being aimlessly slow and being slow."

After finishing the production, JAY B tasted the completed Songpyeon. Regarding the result, he added, "The shape is a bit like that, but it's tastier than I thought. It looks a bit like the Man Do sold at a PC room." In particular, he evaluated the taste by saying, "The sweet pumpkin one is the most delicious."

At the end of the video, JAY B suggested, "I think it would be fun and strengthen your bond if you make them together with your family during Chuseok," while adding wit by saying, "If you want delicious Songpyeon, I recommend buying them."
