Choreographers clash over stage design and costumes in 'Street World Fighter'

Choreographers revealed differing perspectives regarding stage composition, costumes, and performance details. In the sixth episode of 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War', which airs simultaneously on Mnet and tvN, the footage captures choreographers analyzing the completeness and inherent risks of the performances.

Similarity in Costumes and Formations: "They became similar to us"

In the video, the choreographers pointed out that the opposing team's stage composition had become too similar to their own style. One participant commented on the opposing team's costumes, noting the male dancers' leisure pants and Ugg boots, as well as the female dancers' full-body tights, expressing that the look was either baffling or lacked harmony.

An analysis of the stage formations also followed. The cast noted that the triangular formation during the pre-chorus and the diagonal formation in Verse 2 had shifted from previous forms. They stated they felt these changes were not true developments made after the mid-term evaluation, but rather shifts intended to mimic their own style. In particular, they expressed disappointment, noting that the direction in the final segment felt as if it had directly copied their own guidelines, which reduced the excitement of the competition.

Risky Build-ups: "The key to breaking through the peak"

Conflicting views also emerged regarding the difficulty and risk levels of the stages. One participant expressed concern that many build-ups carried a high risk of accidents, fearing this might prevent a high-quality performance from emerging. Conversely, another suggested that managing such risks could actually serve as a challenging key to breaking through to a higher peak. The participant added that while the section was worrying and not unexpected, the risky management was nonetheless a bold challenge.

The cast also discussed the physical toll on the artists. They pointed out situations where female artists had too many elements to manage—including facial expressions—while performing the choreography, discussing the discomfort and risks felt by the performers. Specifically, noting how a female artist had to perform to the point where her face contorted due to the overwhelming demands, one participant remarked they wondered if the opposing team's keyword was indeed "risk."
