Bailey Sok faces identity crisis between dancer and artist

Bailey Sok discusses the struggle between her established dance style and her new artistic direction on 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War.'

Bailey Sok has revealed her internal struggle between the familiarity of being a dancer and the new challenges of evolving into an artist. In a clip from 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War,' which aired on Mnet and tvN on September 22, 2026, Bailey expressed her conflict regarding choreography composition and concept.

The gap between stable style and public impact

In the video, Bailey commented on the work produced by the team of choreographers Minjun and Caspers. Noting that Caspers understands her style and movement well, Bailey explained that the Minjun and Caspers team provides a "safe bet" for this solo work. She specifically noted that the hand choreography presented by Minjun was particularly catchy.

However, Bailey expressed reservations regarding the final impact. According to the video subtitles and her remarks, while the quality of the work is very high, she felt it lacked a striking impact from a mainstream perspective. She expressed disappointment that despite the high quality, there was no singular, powerful moment during the chorus that truly stood out.

Conflict over concept, costume, and artistic identity

Her concerns extended beyond choreography to visual concepts and costumes. Bailey noted that the first concept, which utilized red curtains and slow-motion effects, was impressive, remarking that the slow-motion scenes were so seamless they felt professionally edited. However, she expressed concern regarding the second concept's attire. She shared her dilemma over whether wearing tight clothing inspired by sea creatures or monsters while wearing heels would look "pretty" or "cool.'

These concerns ultimately highlighted the clash between her perspective as a dancer and her vision as an artist. Caught between the style of the Minjun and Caspers team, which fits her identity to date, and the direction she wishes to pursue—the style of Shimizu and Inkyu—Bailey reflected: "My identity up until this point, it fits more with Minjun and Caspers. But then moving forward to now, to where maybe I'd want to take it in a different way, I would go more Shimizu and Inkyu."
