I Want to Stop Raising Heroes, TT... 'Raising Heroes' Bows Out After Passing the One-Year Mark

Naeoe Economy TV — ThumbAge will end service for Raising Heroes on Sept. 15. The game launched on May 27, 2024, meaning its journey will conclude after approximately one year and four months, or 477 days of operation.

Raising Heroes is a character-raising game developed by ThumbAge subsidiary Unsigned Studio. The title was created on the foundation of ThumbAge's earlier game Heroes for Kakao, carrying elements of that original work into a new release centered on developing a roster of heroes.

Dozens of popular characters from the original game appear in Raising Heroes, including Helena, Hwang Jin-i and Nam Ja-hyeon. The developers also recreated features such as the heroes' individual skills, filling the game with familiar elements intended to bring back memories of the original title for returning players.

Despite those nostalgic touches, Raising Heroes struggled to generate enough commercial momentum. The game joined the character-raising trend that had spread across South Korea's gaming industry, but its results fell short of sustaining that momentum, and the service will now disappear from the market.

New downloads and in-app purchases have already been blocked. ThumbAge will continue accepting refund requests until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 15, giving eligible users one month after the service closure date to submit their applications.

A ThumbAge representative said, “Since the official launch, we have made many precious and enjoyable memories with our Heroes. Unfortunately, however, we determined that it would be difficult to continue operating the service, so the journey of Raising Heroes will come to an end here.”
