Seoul Milk launches low-sugar Viyott Choco Ring
Seoul Milk expands its Viyott yogurt lineup with a new Choco Ring version containing 45% less sugar to meet growing health-conscious demand.
| NBNTV = Reporter Kim Min-ho | Seoul Milk announced on the 9th that it has expanded consumer choices by launching the new 'Viyott Choco Ring Low Sugar,' which contains 45% less sugar compared to the existing product.

As consumer interest in healthy eating habits and sugar management rises, an increasing number of people are considering nutritional content alongside taste when selecting food. In response, the food industry is strengthening competitiveness by adding low-sugar product lineups to existing mega-brands or introducing new low-sugar products. To align with these changes, Seoul Milk has added Viyott Choco Ring Low Sugar to its lineup as a new option for consumers looking to reduce sugar intake.
First introduced in March 2004, Viyott is Korea's first flip-type topping yogurt. The name is a combination of 'Vi,' meaning vitality, and 'Yott,' a youthful expression for yogurt, carrying the meaning of proposing a new yogurt culture through a fun and energetic image.
With a differentiation strategy of adding various toppings to yogurt made with Seoul Milk's high-quality raw milk, and providing the fun of eating through an innovative package that consumers 'snap and eat,' cumulative sales surpassed approximately 940,000,000 units as of July this year. If Viyott products were lined up, they would be enough to circle the Earth—which has a circumference of about 40,000km—two and a half times.
Viyott is continuously expanding its product lineup to keep pace with diverse tastes and rapidly changing consumer trends. Currently, it operates a total of four types: Choco Ring, Crunch Ball, Cookies & Cream, and Berry Compote. In May, it also launched a dedicated 'Viyott Ice Cream' for the Japanese market based on an intellectual property (IP) license collaboration with a local partner.
In July, the company also began full-scale exports of Viyott to Taiwan and Hong Kong. In Taiwan's 7-Eleven, it received a positive response from local consumers from the early stages of launch, and in Hong Kong, it is maintaining a stable sales flow centered around major distribution channels such as Wellcome.
Based on this success, the company plans to continuously expand export channels to various countries in the future.
The newly introduced Viyott Choco Ring Low Sugar is based on the representative steady-seller 'Choco Ring,' offering another option to consumers mindful of sugar intake.
While reducing the sugar content by 45% compared to the existing product, it preserves the taste and fun of enjoying Viyott's unique yogurt and Choco Ring together. It is characterized by removing sugar from the fermented liquid and utilizing ingredients like allulose. In particular, Choco Ring, which has the highest consumer preference among Viyott products, was selected as the first low-sugar product, expanding the lineup so consumers can choose between the original Choco Ring and the low-sugar version based on their preferences and dietary habits.
The new Viyott Choco Ring Low Sugar can be found not only in offline channels such as large marts and supermarkets but also through various online channels.
Lee Eun-Kyung, head of the Fermented Milk Marketing Team at Seoul Milk, stated, "As Viyott Choco Ring is a representative product that has been loved by consumers for a long time, we will continue to maintain the taste and enjoyment of the existing product. At the same time, since we have newly introduced 'Low Sugar Choco Ring' so that consumers considering sugar intake can choose Viyott according to their lifestyle, we will continue to expand our product lineup to meet various consumer needs.""
