Young Tak reveals real-life inspiration for hit song at Sadang Station

Singer Young Tak revealed that the lyrics to his hit song "Why Are You Coming Out From There" were based on a real-life experience.

Appearing on the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation variety program "Radio Star" on September 23, 2026, Young Tak explained the song's origins through an anecdote from a past relationship. He noted that the actual setting for the song was near Sadang Station, contrary to what might be assumed.

An unexpected encounter at Sadang Station

Recalling the incident, Young Tak shared that after finishing a meal near Konkuk University, where he was living at the time, he received a call from his partner around midnight. Despite his partner claiming to be at home, Young Tak felt an intuitive sense of doubt and headed toward Sadang Station. Upon arriving, he witnessed his partner standing with another man from about 20m away.

Young Tak said he recognized the situation immediately just by seeing the other person's back. In the footage, after the man accompanying his partner took a taxi and left, Young Tak approached his partner, who was left alone, and asked, "What are you doing?" to confirm the situation. His partner explained that they had stayed to drink for about an hour after a company dinner and had intended to contact him afterward.

A moment of contemplation that fueled creativity

Young Tak revealed that because he wanted to believe his partner, he chose not to demand proof by going to the location she had mentioned. He felt that demanding such confirmation was an action one only takes when they have already decided to end a relationship. Instead, Young Tak chose to trust her and escorted her home.

This experience ultimately influenced the song's production. Young Tak noted that the song contains lyrics about cheering one another on and discussed how the experience played a role in the creative process. Reflecting on the situation, he explained how it ultimately led to the creation of the successful track, even referring to the experience as his "muse" and expressing his gratitude.
