Latin Factory Releases Genre-Blending EP 'Sonido La-Fac'

Latin Factory, a group that combines a foundation in Latin music with a range of other genres, has released its new EP, “Sonido La-Fac.” The record presents the group’s latest approach to bringing different musical styles together around a Latin sound.

According to information released by Danal Entertainment, the album title combines “Sonido,” the Spanish word for “sound,” with “La-Fac,” an abbreviation of the group’s name, Latin Factory. Together, “Sonido La-Fac” refers to the sound that is uniquely associated with Latin Factory.

Genre fusion and an original style rooted in Latin sound

The album is grounded in Latin music while incorporating elements from several genres, including pop, jazz, rock and hip-hop. Rather than treating those influences as separate additions, the EP brings them together within a musical framework centered on Latin sound.

The title track, “Sonido De Latin Factory,” similarly moves beyond the conventional boundaries of traditional Latin music. It blends multiple genres over a Latin foundation while also incorporating Korean sentiment, pursuing an original style that reflects the group’s own musical identity.

The track also sets itself apart through the way it develops. Its defining elements include direct lyrics that express the team’s identity and fast vocal melodies delivered in a style close to rap. The arrangement adds another distinctive feature by bringing every vocalist and brass member together for a collective chant.

The song’s sound also reflects the meaning of the lyric “Our Way.” Latin Factory uses cheerful energy to convey the process of breaking away from standardized conventions and trying something new, turning that sense of freedom and experimentation into part of the track’s musical character.

Production led by Yu Jong-hyeon with participation from the full lineup

Yu Jong-hyeon was involved throughout the album’s production. He handled the composition, lyrics and arrangement, while also performing trumpet and aerophone flute. His responsibilities extended to mixing and mastering, placing him at the center of the EP’s overall production.

Hong Ju-hye, Kim Yeong-gwang, Yu Jong-hyeon, Park Chang-hun and Mun Ye-jin all contributed vocals to the album. The brass session featured Mun Ye-jin on trombone, Kim Yeong-gwang on alto saxophone, Park Chang-hun on tenor saxophone, and Yu Jong-hyeon on trumpet and aerophone.

Additional performers helped build the album’s varied instrumental sound. Lee Gi-sang played drums and timbales, Son So-hui performed on piano, Gwon Tae-u played bass, and Hwang Seong-yong contributed conga and bongo. Their combined participation supports the broad palette of sounds heard across “Sonido La-Fac.”
