The connection between the two began five years ago when the writer, Kim, decided to transfer his plane ticket to Fukuoka, Japan, due to personal circumstances. He had to cancel his trip because it overlapped with his child's surgery schedule, and since the refund amount was minimal, he chose to transfer the ticket instead. Through SNS, he launched a "Project to Find Kim Min Seop," offering round-trip airfare with specific conditions: "A male of Korean nationality, name is Kim Min Seop, and the English spelling and spacing on the passport must match exactly."

The post drew significant attention on SNS and went viral as people named Kim Min Seop were tagged in the comments. During this process, the designer, Kim, emerged as the protagonist of the project after being contacted via a tag from a senior colleague who had read the writer's post. At the time, the designer was taking a leave of absence to save money for his graduation exhibition, but he ended up participating in this special project at the suggestion of his company CEO.

Strangers provided accommodation, transportation, and sponsorships

Once the recipient was chosen, the project transformed from a simple ticket transfer into an unexpected movement of generosity. According to the episode, a high school teacher sent a message offering to sponsor accommodation costs for Kim's trip, citing students in difficult circumstances. Additionally, others provided bus passes (Green Pass) for use in Fukuoka and promised to support communication expenses.

Corporate participation followed. Kakao expressed a desire to sponsor the designer's practical expenses before graduation to help him envision his future, leading to a crowdfunding project titled "Project to Spend Time with '93-born Kim Min Seop in Phu Quoc." As a token of gratitude, the writer expressed his thanks by drawing and delivering caricatures to the sponsors.

The two met face-to-face at the airport for the first time. The writer recalled the moment, saying, "I got the feeling that this person is exactly Kim Min Seop," while the designer noted that meeting the writer was an exciting experience.
