Seo Eve shares heartfelt talks with middle schoolers on dreams and family

Artist Seo Eve met with middle school students to share the struggles and inner thoughts of puberty. In a video released via her YouTube channel 'Seo_EVE', the students who appeared in the Japanese performance music video for 'Unfinished' sit down for a candid conversation with Seo Eve.

"I hate being told to lose weight or being compared to others" — Honest struggles of middle schoolers

The students participating in the music video shoot expressed their honest feelings regarding the words they dislike and the words they crave. The students expressed discomfort with comments about their appearance or being compared to others. In the video, they collectively stated, "I hate being told to lose weight the most," and "It is hard when people compare me to others and say I am lacking." They also shared realistic concerns faced by adolescents, such as parents saying "Go study," questions about their appearance, and being criticized for staying in their rooms.

Conversely, when discussing the words they want to hear, they chose compliments on their appearance and words of encouragement. The students replied that compliments such as "Let's go eat something delicious," "You're pretty," "You're cute," and "Your dancing has improved a lot" boost their confidence. In particular, they mentioned that messages of support like "No matter what the result is, I will cheer for you" and "You are doing well now, so let's work harder to become a wonderful adult" provide great strength.

Seo Eve's growing pains and dedication: "I will continue studying English and practicing dance"

Seo Eve shared her own worries as a second-year middle school student and her attitude toward her career. In the video, she said, "When I see comments, I sometimes hear that I sound like I'm in my 50s, but since it means people are interested in me, I actually feel grateful." Additionally, having learned to dance for 7 months, she revealed, "I feel like my basics are lacking, so I am trying to practice dancing more." She also mentioned specific efforts to improve her English, such as using a language learning app.

Recalling past experiences, Seo Eve shared an episode from her time at Music Bank, saying, "In the past, while on my way to Music Bank, I responded to a request to do a fish gesture and ended up being shocked by the impact of it." She then expressed her desire to grow, stating, "I feel like I am not yet very mature, so I think I need to think a lot."

In the latter half of the video, Seo Eve drew attention by delivering a sincere message to her parents. She confessed her inner feelings, saying, "Since middle school, there were times when I spoke harshly or said things that were upsetting, but in my heart, it has always been just Mom and Dad," adding, "I wish they could understand my heart well." In particular, she vowed, "When I become a wonderful adult, I will definitely repay my parents," expressing her determination to take them on overseas trips and earn enough money to treat them to delicious food.
