Designer PARKCHOONMOO to unveil 2027 S/S collection in Paris

The lines and empty spaces of traditional Korean attire are set to take the stage in Paris. Designer PARKCHOONMOO will unveil his 2027 Spring/Summer (S/S) collection in Paris, expressing the aesthetics of emptiness and tranquility through the theme of 'Mu' (Nothingness).

On the 29th, PARKCHOONMOO will present the 2027 S/S collection of his signature line 'PARKCHOONMOO' at Galerie Bertrand Grimont in Paris.

The theme of the new collection is 'Mu' (Nothingness). The concept of 'Mu'—representing empty space, the void, and the boundary between life and death—is translated into garments to evoke a calm, static image.

The collection combines refined minimalism with PARKCHOONMOO's signature bold silhouettes. Utilizing volumes that break away from standardized forms, the designer has incorporated elements drawn from traditional Korean clothing throughout the pieces.

Elements inspired by traditional attire, such as goreum (ribbon ties), dongjeong (collar strips), and various fastening methods, have been reconstructed into structural details. A key feature is the juxtaposition of rough, unrefined textures with delicate finishes within a single garment.

The layering of translucent materials, a hallmark of PARKCHOONMOO, serves as a central element. By layering materials with diverse textures and properties—including organza, cotton, linen, satin silk, and knit—the designer adds three-dimensional structure and depth to the clothing.

The color palette is centered on black, ivory, and white, with intense red used as a focal point to create contrast against the achromatic tones.

The collection also employs various decorative and manufacturing techniques, including stitching, patchwork, tassels, quilting, pleating, and loop decorations. The designer also utilized an 'inside-out' technique, exposing seam allowances that are typically hidden to use the garment's construction as a primary design element.

Centering on the concept of 'Mu'—the removal of unnecessary elements—the collection weaves together overlapping materials, traditional Korean details, and structural silhouettes into a single cohesive flow.

Through the 2027 S/S Paris collection, PARKCHOONMOO will showcase garments that blend diverse textures, ranging from lightweight organza and silk to cotton, linen, and knits. The reinterpreted designs of goreum, dongjeong, and fastenings, along with the signature layering and inside-out techniques, will be revealed on-site in Paris on the 29th.
