"Making stones, not songpyeon"... NAZE's Chuseok farming and cooking challenge
3-member group NAZE celebrates Chuseok by harvesting crops at a local market and attempting to cook traditional holiday dishes.
The 3-member group NAZE has released footage of their Chuseok celebrations, featuring a journey of harvesting crops and preparing traditional holiday foods.

Harvesting begins at a folk market: "Found a life item"
NAZE kicked off their activities by visiting the Maseong Folk Five-Day Market. Drawing on their farming experience, the members purchased essential gear, including work clothes, boots, and hats. The video shows the members immersing themselves in the market atmosphere, browsing through clothing and even playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would wear a skirt. One member particularly enjoyed the shopping trip, calling a find at the market a "life item.'
At the harvest site, the group picked cucumbers, eggplants, and apples. The members attempted to connect with nature by tasting the apples they had just harvested. The footage captures their surprise at the size of the crops and their enjoyment of eating fresh fruit straight from the field. Following the harvest, the members decided to use their fresh produce to cook a variety of dishes.
"Is it songpyeon or a stone?"... Chaotic holiday cooking
The cooking process began in earnest using the harvested crops. The members attempted to make songpyeon (traditional rice cakes) but struggled with the dough. According to the video's subtitles and dialogue, the dough often developed holes or failed to hold its shape. During the struggle, one member jokingly remarked, "I'm not making songpyeon, I'm making stones."
Beyond songpyeon, the cooking continued with various ingredients like sugar, salt, and sesame oil. The members tasted their creations, offering differing opinions on the seasoning. Dohyeok stood out during the cooking process, earning praise from the members for doing the best job. The group continued to season their dishes and enjoyed the process of tasting their completed work.
From japchae to jeon: The completed Chuseok feast
The menu expanded from songpyeon to include japchae (glass noodles), shiitake mushroom jeon (pancakes), eggplant jeon, and obak-jeon (mixed vegetable pancakes). The members prepared the holiday spread by slicing and prepping the vegetables themselves. Once the dishes were ready, the members toasted to enjoy the Chuseok atmosphere.
The members concluded their celebration by sharing the meal they had prepared. The video shows a debate over the best dish, with some praising the japchae and others favoring the pumpkin jeon. To wrap up the festivities, the members toasted in front of their completed feast and shared Chuseok greetings.
