Project RX rebranded as Pareidolia; demo build revealed for TGS 2026

Nexon Games' Project RX will be unveiled in Japan under the new title Pareidolia.

According to Nexon and Nexon Games on the 24th, Pareidolia is a PC, console, and mobile-based anime-style game being developed by RX Studio, a unit under the IO Division of Nexon Games, the developer behind Blue Archive.

Players take on the role of the director of the Revitalization Center in Anima City, a world closely resembling Earth. As the manager of the center's office, Tasogarekan, players will live alongside characters known as 'Maits' who possess special abilities, working together to solve various problems arising within Anima City.

The title 'Pareidolia' was chosen to encapsulate the theme of discovering familiar daily life and forming new connections within Anima City—an otherworldly place that resembles the real world yet feels subtly unfamiliar.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game features high-quality 3D graphics that create a vivid atmosphere. Players can experience dynamic combat, immersive storytelling, deep interactions with unique characters, and various lifestyle content, offering a diverse range of gameplay experiences.

A teaser image released alongside the official Pareidolia BI captures a moment in the Tasogarekan where Ohana, Shami, and Minie (from left to right) are sleeping. Scattered comic books, playing cards, and a recorder evoke the joyful leisure time of the Maits, while everyday props like an electric fan and clothes on a laundry line lend a sense of peaceful, lived-in reality to the scene.

Pareidolia will officially participate in Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2026, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, from the 17th to the 21st of next month. The company plans to showcase a booth that faithfully recreates the Tasogarekan from the game and will unveil the first playable demo of Pareidolia. Additionally, visitors can enjoy character cosplay featuring Minie, Ohana, Shami, and the Elevator Girl, along with various hands-on events and limited edition merchandise.
