UNIS reveals recording session for BIBI's 'Sky, Earth, Stars' remake

Girl group UNIS has released a video capturing their recording session for a remake of BIBI's song 'Sky, Earth, Stars'. The footage shows the members in the studio, focusing intently on vocal direction to capture the true essence of the track.

Challenges with a New Style

In the video, Kotoko expressed her nerves, noting that this is the first time she has tackled such a style. She mentioned that while she practiced by watching videos of senior artists, she faced many difficulties once she began singing, as the song's feel was quite different from her usual repertoire, leading to much deliberation on how to express it.

Ellie worked on adjusting her delivery to differentiate it from the original track. The video shows her receiving direction to ensure the performance felt "bright yet strong." Specifically, the group engaged in detailed adjustments, such as attempting a sound similar to "crae-do" to enhance the dynamics of the word "geuraedo" (but).

Jelly, who celebrated her birthday on the day of the recording, shared how moved she was by fans visiting her birthday cafe and sending letters and videos. She expressed her hope that the song will be widely loved, given how hard the group prepared.

Vocal Direction and Member Stories

Hyunjoo received direction to adjust her vibrato length to better preserve the rhythm. Following feedback that lengthening the vibrato on the word "ani" could kill the rhythm, she worked on cutting off the end notes more sharply.

Nana recorded additional chorus parts for the track. She noted that while her original pitch was higher, the final adjustment resulted in a recording with a more "cute" and playful feel.

Younha spoke about her concerns during practice but expressed relief that things went well after several attempts in the studio. The youngest member, Seowon, shared that she was extra careful to capture the genre's specific characteristics, fearing that a slight mistake might make the song sound too much like trot.

Finally, Im Yun-a noted that while the members initially sang with a flat feel, the session became more dynamic and exciting than usual, leading her to predict the final result will be an incredibly "cute and adorable" song.

Seowon stated it was an honor to remake a song by BIBI, noting that the process was smooth because she had been exposed to such music since she was young.
