Roy Kim unveils remake of Yojiro Noda's 'Sparkle'

Singer Roy Kim has released a remake of a song by a Japanese artist, reinterpreting the track with his own unique musical color.

Released via the YouTube channel 'Neighborhood Friend Kang Nami', the video is part of the 'J-POP REMAKE Vol.4' project and features the music video for 'Sparkle' performed by Roy Kim. The track is based on 'Sparkle', originally written and composed by Yojiro Noda.

Roy Kim participates in lyric writing

According to the video description, the lyrics for this remake were a collaborative effort between Lee Seu-ran and Roy Kim. While maintaining the sensibility of the original, the song is characterized by its new lyrical reconstruction through Kim's participation. Choi Young-ho (Handsome People) handled the music production, arrangement, piano, and Midi work, building the track's overall sound. Choi also took charge of the string arrangement, designing the song's musical framework.

Instrumentation and production credits

Various session musicians participated to add richness to the song. Jung Strings provided the string performance, Jang Jae-won played guitar, and Kim Hyun-sung provided the chorus. Recording was conducted by Nam Seung-won at Starry_Sound, with mixing by Gu Jong-pil (KLANG Studio) and mastering by Choi Hyo-young (SUONO Mastering) ensuring high production quality.

The project was produced by Kangnam and DGL, with DOT PRODUCTION handling the music video direction. The video was directed by JUNG KOOK LIM. For video production, JAE WOOK JANG served as the DOP, while YOUNG MIN LEE and MYEONG JIN JEON participated as PDs. The video is provided by SHGOLD NETWORKS.
