Jang Woo Young opens up about musical struggles and album plans

Singer Jang Woo Young shared his honest feelings regarding his musical career and his concerns about future plans via his YouTube channel.

In a video recently uploaded to his channel, Jang was seen having a meal and conversing with his production team against the backdrop of Daehak-ro. At the beginning of the video, he asked for his subscribers' understanding, saying, "I don't have much laughter today. I have something serious to talk about today." He explained that he chose Daehak-ro—a place concentrated with museums, theaters, and art departments—as a location where his story could be effectively conveyed.

"The hardest thing is when music becomes less fun"

Jang shared his reflections on the process of preparing for musical activities. In the video, he explained the music production process, stating, "I planned to release an album this year. Actually, I make that plan every year." He added, "It takes several months for a single piece of music to be decided, selected, and finally released to the world. Since I am with a good company, these processes are possible. I am truly grateful for that."

In particular, he identified the most difficult part of the musical work process as "the thing that isn't easy at all is when music becomes less fun." He expressed metaphorically that he has "no interest in making a real hit song," and that it would be enough if the music could just "float well on a river and flow along like this."

Gratitude toward the production team and reflections on YouTube

Jang showed deep trust in his production team, including the PD and directors. He expressed his gratitude to the crew, saying, "Rather than saying I'm glad I started YouTube, I'm so relieved that I met the PDs. I am truly sincere about this." Furthermore, mentioning videos that captured 2PM's past activities, he said that the footage containing on-site setups and preparation processes "have truly become treasures to us."

Additionally, Jang contemplated the balance between his private life and work, noting that even though YouTube is a personal endeavor, he finds himself thinking about it even on weekends. He confessed, "When I talk with my friends at JYP, we say let's try not to do anything on weekends unless it's really, really urgent. We should respect each other's private time, but I find myself constantly thinking only about YouTube."
