A harmony of soy sauce and honey: 'Dango' is the members' top pick
In the video, the members tasted four different treats: matcha dango, a coffee jelly drink, a red bean shaved ice-style dessert, and a fruit dessert known as 'Anmicchi.' Regarding the basic dango they tried first, one member described it as "grilled rice cake." He expressed his satisfaction, noting, "The blend of honey and soy sauce hits you immediately, and toward the end, the aroma of being grilled—slightly burnt—covers the taste perfectly." One member, a rice cake enthusiast, added that he typically prefers styles like honey rice cakes over those topped with red bean powder, similar to Korean sirutteok. As a result, the basic dango was voted the number one dessert of the day by the group.
Mixed reviews on matcha bitterness and coffee jelly sweetness
Opinions were more divided regarding the matcha dango. One member, commenting on the flavor containing white bean paste, said, "The difference between delicious and not delicious is just a paper-thin margin, and it couldn't quite cross that line." Other members noted the scent of the matcha, with one remarking, "It smells like pulling grass," while another mentioned a strong, raw matcha sensation.
Regarding the beverage containing coffee jelly, the members noted the combination of whipped cream, jelly, and chocolate. In the video, they sampled a drink related to 'Cocomeda Coffee,' which originated in Nagoya in 1968. The members remarked, "It's not as sweet as I thought," and "It has the bitterness of a cappuccino." One member suggested that the jelly helps balance the sweetness of the liquid and noted it would taste even better if paired with the provided syrup.
Recharging for the Chiba stage: "We will work hard"
Finally, the members tried a dessert featuring red beans, rice cake, jelly, and fruit, noting its visual resemblance to red bean shaved ice. One member even recalled 'Amanna,' a traditional Korean ice cream. After enjoying the sweets, the members felt recharged, saying, "Since we ate so many sweets, we think we'll have plenty of energy." Ahead of their Chiba performance, they expressed their determination, stating, "Since we've had so much sugar, we will try to give a very sweet and 'dangerously' great performance on stage.""
