Kwon Jin Ah shares vocal struggles and song insights for EP [SAVE ME]

Singer Kwon Jin Ah revealed her musical contemplations through a behind-the-scenes video capturing the recording process for her new EP [SAVE ME].

"My breathing is my strength"... The recording process that defines the details

In the released video, Kwon Jin Ah is seen meticulously adjusting the atmosphere and vocal techniques while recording tracks for [SAVE ME]. While recording a specific song, she discussed energy control, noting, "The original demo's Verse didn't have as much Air as it does now, but since there is Air now, it might feel like more energy is being expended."

Regarding emotional expression, she demonstrated the deliberation between a calm singing style and a more emotive one, stating, "If the mood is bright, it sounds like this, but when I put emotion into it, I mix in a bit more air toward the end."

Kwon Jin Ah specifically addressed her vocal characteristics when conveying requirements for the Mixing stage. Focusing on preserving the texture of her vocals, she said, "My strength is my breathing, but when you do the Mixing, it feels like the breathing is erased a lot. I will ask you to keep it as much as possible." During the song selection process, she also worked to refine the tracks, offering opinions such as, "I think number 3 is good," and "Number 4 is better because it's more articulated."

"Destructive love"... The message behind the lyrics

Kwon Jin Ah provided specific explanations regarding the meaning and character of the lyrics in this album. In the video, she suggested a direction for interpreting the songs, saying, "If I sing this song too well, it might be a bit boring." Regarding one particular track, she expressed empathy for the emotions conveyed, noting, "The lyrics are good. There is something poignant about it. The bridge is so sad."

She also touched upon the overall atmosphere of the album. Explaining the sentiment of the songs, Kwon Jin Ah said, "The lyrics are not bright, but they contain a destructive love. It is good because it is destructive." Additionally, she noted the shifted character of the track 'SAVE ME,' stating it "contains a spirit of resistance, as if not wanting to be saved by this world."

A sing-along part completed with 30 voices

A special effort was made during the recording to enhance the charm of the songs. In the video, Kwon Jin Ah led the atmosphere at the studio, saying, "I hope you all join in for the sing-along part." The sing-along section was completed with the participation of the staff members present; Kwon Jin Ah expressed satisfaction with the result, explaining, "Since five people did it six times, it was made to sound like 30 people."

After finishing the session, Kwon Jin Ah shared, "Recording is finished again today. In terms of my taste, I like the brightest one best," expressing her desire to convey messages such as "Destructive love, let me die more in this dream" through this album.
