Jang Yoon-jeong and father share tearful confession of past hardships

Singer Jang Yoon-jeong shared a heartfelt conversation with her father during a meal on her YouTube channel, 'Jang Gong Jang Jang Yoon-jeong.' In the video, Jang eats with her father, who is known for his blunt personality, as they exchange thoughts about their difficult past and their true feelings for one another.

"My regret is what I couldn't do for my daughter"... A father's belated confession

The most poignant moment of the video was the sincere confession from Jang's father. Recalling his experience of attending her performances, he expressed how heart-wrenching it was to listen to his daughter sing. He stated, "Even if I had to give my life, I want to do what she wants," adding, "It is a deep regret that I couldn't even do one-tenth of that." While noting that expressing such feelings might seem like the rambling of an old man, he conveyed his deep desire to show his love for his child.

The father recalled how economic difficulties prevented him from fully supporting his daughter's education. He shared the painful memory of her passing a gifted test, only for him to be unable to afford the costs with his salary at the time, saying, "Not being able to send her felt like a dagger in my heart." He also mentioned a time when his daughter wanted to take vocal lessons, but he could not afford the 250,000 won fee.

Driving a Tico to Seoul: Memories of impoverished times

The video also detailed the specific hardships the pair faced during the early stages of Jang's career. Recalling the time Jang lived in Seoul, her father described the harsh conditions where they could not afford gas or electricity bills, leaving them without heating.

He recalled sitting in the passenger seat with the heater on to try and ensure his daughter could sleep warmly, saying, "At that time, I drove to Seoul in a Tico to try and make sure my daughter could sleep warmly." He noted that although he had originally brought out a red 1988 Pride, he ultimately used the Tico to keep her warm. He shared the emotional burden of being the head of the household, saying, "Back then, I had to be cold-hearted because if I showed my emotions outwardly, everything would fall apart."

A "mysterious" father and everyday conversation

The video also captured the daily interactions between Jang and her father, who typically avoids media appearances. Jang introduced her father as being "mysterious," revealing that he only agreed to appear because she offered to buy him delicious food. She also noted that her own blunt personality is a trait she inherited from him.

During the meal, the two engaged in informal conversation regarding health and the father's past popularity. Reminiscing about the days when he was popular due to his voice, he recalled, "There was a 'calling' (phone dating) service, and I was very popular when I would say 'Hello.'" The father, who currently maintains a weight of 55.6kg, also discussed his health, comparing it to when he was closer to 60kg.
