Guwaba's Bada and Back Koo Young reveal Taeyong's stage details

The behind-the-scenes details of the K-pop solo artist directing stage, completed by choreographers Bada and Back Koo Young as a team, have been revealed. In a commentary video for 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War', which airs on Mnet and tvN, the duo revealed the specific concepts and choreography points they deliberated on while directing Taeyong's stage.

"A controversial figure in a press conference concept"... Taeyong's festival stage direction

Introducing their team name 'Guwaba', Bada and Back Koo Young explained that they set Taeyong's stage for this mission with a 'festival' concept. The overall stage focused on delivering energy to the audience; in particular, a press conference concept was introduced during the intro to portray Taeyong as a 'controversial figure at the center of attention.'

According to the video, the LED screen utilized newspaper images to visualize the buzz. Additionally, they implemented a scene resembling a media scrum, where dancers appeared to shine lights on microphones as if taking photos. The moment Taeyong declares, "I am Top tier," on stage was also an intentional setting to express the charismatic image of a trending figure. Bada shared this directorial intention, stating, "I wanted to give the feeling that even though he is on TV, all eyes are constantly focused on him."

'Wakawagi' on costumes and signature choreography created with the artist

The stage details were also reflected in the costumes and choreography. Utilizing the keyword 'Wakawagi' related to the song title, the phrases 'Waka' were placed on Taeyong's right leg and 'Wak' on his left, while the word 'Waki' was used as a point on the dancers' costumes. Furthermore, they combined choreography and visual effects by having lyrics appear on the LED screen in sync with hand gestures timed to the lyrics.

Particularly notable was the collaboration with the artist. The 'finger flick dance,' where dancers are pushed back when Taeyong makes a finger-flicking motion, was introduced as a signature choreography created through collaboration, as Taeyong himself suggested the movement. Bada explained the process, saying, "It was a movement Taeyong created himself."

The two choreographers shared their mutual trust and reflections after completing the mission. Recalling her early days starting out as a director while working with Back Koo Young, Bada confessed that she had a desire to be recognized by him this time as a director with a firm identity. In response, Back Koo Young praised Bada's skills, expressing his support as a reliable colleague.

The performance also included a production providing souvenirs to the audience. The production team and cast prepared three types of stamps—'Wakawagi', 'Choreography by Bada & Back Koo Young', and 'Lit in by Taeyong'—to allow the audience to take home the lingering emotions of the performance. At the end of the video, Bada concluded with a greeting, saying, "Please love Waka's choreography a lot."
