Ghost9's Son Jun-hyung shares personal story in new song 'Moonlight'

Son Jun-hyung, a member and producer of the group Ghost9, connected with fans by revealing the behind-the-scenes production of his new song 'Moonlight'.

During a live broadcast on his YouTube channel, Son Jun-hyung addressed his recently released single 'Moonlight'. He explained that the song was originally conceived approximately three years ago while he was working on 'Awesome Day'. "I made it while thinking of Ghost9, and the lyrics are basically my story," he stated.

He also shared a specific anecdote regarding the songwriting process. Son mentioned that while discussing the lyrical direction with a songwriter, the lyricist suggested, "Jun-hyung, why don't you try writing your own story?" Regarding this, he added, "It is a story about how what I dreamed of was so vast, but reality is here, and it's about longing for those dreams while living them." He noted, "It is both a sad story and a hopeful story, so many emotions are mixed together."

6th debut anniversary and producing activities... Preparing for a solo tour

The release of this new song holds even more significance as it coincides with the 6th anniversary of Ghost9's debut. Son shared his reflections, noting, "The 6th debut anniversary and the release of 'Moonlight' fell on the same day." He remarked, "If you include my trainee days, my career spans nearly 10 years," adding, "Time really flies."

His multifaceted career was also a topic of discussion. While confirming his direct involvement in producing 'Moonlight', he defined his identity as "a K-pop idol, the leader of Ghost9, a producer, and an actor." Furthermore, regarding future plans, he hinted that he is "preparing for the next solo tour," suggesting the upcoming tour will serve as an encore. However, he remained tight-lipped about specific locations, stating, "It's a secret, so I cannot say."

Live communication with fans during Chuseok holiday

To celebrate Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday, Son held a live broadcast for his fans. "Chuseok is a holiday like Thanksgiving in Korea. But I came here for the fans," he said. He also shared that he visited his paternal family to spend time with them during the holiday.

During the broadcast, when asked about his childhood aspirations, he revealed how his career path evolved, answering, "When I was seven, I wanted to be an actor, and later I dreamed of being a scientist or a mechanic, but ultimately I became an artist."
