Jo Maeryeok’s Production Meets a Rock Band Sound

The new song has attracted attention for the involvement of Jo Maeryeok, a streamer and singer currently active with the band Annoying Box, who served as a co-producer. Members of Jo Maeryeok’s band Assistance Office participated in the instrumental performance, completing an unusual configuration in which a virtual artist and a real human band play together.

‘Orange Flare’ is a hybrid rock track that combines hyperpop and pop-punk. A bright, forceful chord progression characteristic of hyperpop forms the foundation, while rocking guitar sounds add another layer and establish the song’s central theme.

The production team also brings together creators whose work spans the K-pop and J-pop scenes. INFX, a composer associated with music for Isegye Idol, Billlie and NiziU, collaborated with IRIS, a MonoTree composer known for lyrical toplines. Their participation further strengthens the production behind mumune’s first solo release.

The title ‘Orange Flare’ refers to an orange signal flare launched toward the world. Drawing on mumune’s signature color, the song expresses the ambition to illuminate the world and fill it brightly with orange.

A Music Video Breaking Down the Boundary Between Live Action and the Virtual World

The music video focuses on visually realizing the boundary between reality and the virtual world. Its defining approach is the combination of outdoor live-action filming with virtual production, allowing the two visual forms to occupy the same presentation.

Band-performance scenes unfold across an expansive grassy field, while other sequences place a human band and a virtual artist together against a concert-venue backdrop. By bringing those elements into the same visual frame, the video maximizes the song’s bright and lively energy.

Speaking about the solo release, mumune said, “I am excited to be able to present a solo release with a good song, and I worked hard to prepare it. Through these promotions, I want to make both mumune and WISHes widely known to the world.”

mumune has already demonstrated strong vocal ability by earning consecutive second-place finishes in CHZZK’s large-scale singing competitions ‘Singd Cup’ and ‘VMIX2.’ Attention is now focused on the musical range mumune will reveal while taking this new step as a solo artist.
