Moonbuk-i wins 'Immortal Songs' K-POP special with 398 votes

Moonbuk-i, a unit formed by Turtles and Moon Se-yoon, secured the final victory on the KBS2 'Immortal Songs' stage. During the second part of the 'K-POP Time Machine Special' broadcast on August 8, 2026, the Turtles X Moon Se-yoon duo lifted the winner's trophy after receiving 398 votes from the panel of judges.

Moonbuk-i overwhelms the stage with 'Woman of the Beach'

The special featured legendary stars who have led K-pop from the 20th century to the present, presenting reinterpreted versions of classic hits. In the first matchup, Park Nam-jeong performed 'Sad Mannequin,' while Hyun Jin Young presented 'Days Brushed by Rain.' Although Hyun Jin Young dominated the stage to take the initial win, he was defeated by Noise in the following round. Noise secured their advancement by delivering a performance of 'Farewell Formula' that perfectly preserved the charm of the original song.

After defeating Noise, Turtles X Moon Se-yoon selected Cool's 'Woman of the Beach.' The performance, which combined Moon Se-yoon's cheerful energy with the signature sound of Turtles, drew an enthusiastic response from the audience. Just before performing, Moon Se-yoon expressed his respect for his predecessors, noting, "It is truly amazing how seniors can sing while dancing." Following their previous victory, the duo recorded their second consecutive win to advance to the final showdown against Chae Yeon.

Chae Yeon's tears and special bond with Turtles

Chae Yeon, appearing as the final opponent, presented a modern arrangement of Baby V.O.X.'s 'Coincidence (Sad Coincidence).' Despite her brilliant performance, the final victory went to Moonbuk-i. Chae Yeon personally presented the trophy to Turtles X Moon Se-yoon to congratulate them on their win.

During the presentation, the long-standing connection between Chae Yeon and Turtles was revealed. Chae Yeon is known to maintain a close friendship with Lee Zi Yi of Turtles. Her eyes welled with tears as she remarked, "Actually, while we are close with many others, I am especially close with Lee Zi Yi.
