Dongwon F&B adopts Fresh-Lock tech for Yangban Seaweed to boost global reach
Dongwon F&B introduces Fresh-Lock nitrogen filling technology to double Yangban Seaweed's shelf life and expand its global export footprint.
Dongwon F&B announced on the 20th that it is accelerating its global expansion by introducing 'Fresh-Lock' nitrogen filling technology to its Yangban Seaweed brand, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The Fresh-Lock nitrogen filling technology reduces oxygen levels inside the packaging and replaces it with nitrogen to preserve the seaweed's crispy texture and savory flavor for longer periods. In addition to maintaining the freshness of freshly roasted seaweed, the method allows the product to maintain its quality without the need for desiccants (silica gel), offering an eco-friendly benefit by reducing silica gel usage by approximately 300 tons annually.
This innovation serves as a key driver for expanding the company's global presence. For overseas exports involving long logistics periods, the simultaneous application of nitrogen filling and the removal of silica gel doubles the shelf life from 6 months to 12 months. Leveraging this, Dongwon F&B plans to further expand its export footprint, which currently spans approximately 30 countries. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Yangban Seaweed, the company is also hosting a consumer giveaway event offering prizes such as 1 don of pure gold through the 20th of next month.
"As the market leader, we have introduced this new method to provide better quality to our consumers," a Dongwon F&B official stated. "We will continue our efforts to enhance quality throughout the entire process.""
