Xavis unveils portable CNT-based X-ray for medical and NDT use
Xavis to showcase a portable video X-ray prototype using Carbon Nanotube (CNT) technology at the 22nd Gangwon Medical Equipment Show (GMES 2026).
NBNTV = Reporter Ju Hyeon-ung | X-ray inspection equipment company Xavis is unveiling a portable video X-ray prototype utilizing Carbon Nanotube (CNT) technology.

Xavis will showcase the CNT-based portable video X-ray prototype at the 22nd Gangwon Medical Equipment Show (GMES 2026), which opens on the 3rd. The CNT X-ray generator integrated into the prototype features output specifications of a maximum tube voltage of 150kV and a tube current of 3mA.
The product employs CNT cold cathode technology, which emits electrons via the Field Emission method at room temperature.
Unlike traditional thermionic cathode methods that require heating a filament, this technology operates without a preheating process and allows for rapid control of X-ray generation through voltage. The company explained that the absence of a filament enables a more compact and lightweight design.
The device also incorporates microsecond-level pulse control technology. Because Xavis can capture moving objects, the technology can be used in the medical field to observe heartbeats or joint movements, and in industrial Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to inspect products while they are in motion.
Building on the expertise gained from its existing industrial X-ray inspection business, the company plans to expand the application of CNT technology into both the medical and NDT sectors.
A Xavis official stated, "GMES 2026 is an opportunity to showcase our CNT-based portable real-time fluoroscopy X-ray technology. We expect our microsecond-level pulse control technology, which captures movement by freezing it, to open new inspection possibilities in both medical and industrial settings best.""
