As the domestic and international cryptocurrency industries face significant volatility, MBX is reorganizing its strategy.
Following the March 2022 launch of 'A3: Still Alive,' 'Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds' (hereafter Ni no Kuni) drew significant attention as a blockchain game powered by MBX. However, Netmarble is now separating Ni no Kuni from MBX, restructuring the mobile game by transitioning to a standard global build.
According to Netmarble and Netmarble Neo on the 2nd, the MBX build of Ni no Kuni will terminate its service on September 17. Having launched on May 25, 2022, the service is ending after approximately 4 years and 4 months (1,577 days).
The Ni no Kuni service is divided into the 'Daehongma build' (covering Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau) released on June 10, 2021, and the MBX build released in May 2022. This termination applies specifically to the MBX build; the company plans to resume service via a standard global build that does not utilize MBX.
Some industry analysts interpret the integration of MBX as an experiment within Netmarble's IP business strategy. Having concluded the experiment, the company is now pivoting back to a global build to focus on the strength of the IP itself.
In the broader blockchain gaming industry, such shifts often occur to minimize the side effects of token price collapses, which frequently lead to delisting rushes as tokens lose value alongside the games.

However, Netmarble has chosen to prioritize the Ni no Kuni IP over MBX. Industry observers suggest that because Ni no Kuni is a mobile reinterpretation of the fantasy RPG 'Ni no Kuni'—a collaboration between Level-5 and Studio Ghibli—the IP remains a highly valuable asset.
According to Bithumb, where MBX is traded, the token has seen a decline of approximately 99%. MBX, which debuted on the MBX/KRW trading pair on May 6, 2022, saw a spectacular launch with an opening price of 52,200 won, a high of 68,000 won, a low of 36,000 won, and a closing price of 39,180 won.
As of the 2nd, MBX has an opening price of 37.82 won, a high of 38.99 won, a low of 37.02 won, and a closing price of 38.48 won. Compared to its May 2022 listing and the recent high of 38.99 won, the price has plummeted from 68,000 won to 38.99 won—a drop to roughly 1/1,744th of its value, or a loss of 99.94%. To put this in perspective, a 10 million won investment at the time would now be worth only the price of a cup of coffee (around 5,700 won).
A Netmarble official stated, "After the MBX version ends, we plan to open a unified global server in July."
