Singer Jo Jung-chi has revealed a newly configured effects pedalboard featuring MXR Distortion+ and Big Muff pedals via his YouTube channel. The setup, which utilizes a BOSS MS3 switcher and separate spatial effects, is prepared for his upcoming club performance on October 24.
Ahead of his club performance scheduled for October 24, singer Jo Jung-chi has revealed a newly configured effects pedalboard setup for his stage performance.
Through his YouTube channel, Jo Jung-chi provided a detailed explanation of the effects equipment prepared for this performance and the characteristics of each device. The centerpiece of this setup is the MS3, an older multi-effects switcher from BOSS. This equipment features multi-effects capabilities and the ability to connect up to three loop boxes.

Distortion combinations and use of octave and rotary effects
Jo Jung-chi connected his long-time favorites, the MXR Distortion+ and Big Muff, as his distortion line. He noted that the Big Muff was purchased from Tasegawa and that he has prepared it in tone-control mode for this performance, rather than the mode without tone adjustment. An octave effect was placed in the third loop box with the intention of potentially using it in future performances.
Additionally, a rotary effect was included to provide strong effects during performances. Jo Jung-chi mentioned that the intensity of the rotary effect can be adjusted and indicated plans to utilize it according to the performance situation. The setup also includes his own effects featuring chorus and trumpet effects.

Separation of spatial effects and use of volume pedals
A notable aspect of this setup is the management of spatial effects. While delay and reverb could be used within the MS3, Jo Jung-chi configured them as separate pedals to account for the limitations of using loop boxes. He mentioned that by applying chorus, delay, and reverb together, the pedal can also be used as a volume pedal.
The setup also includes a Wah pedal, a pedal for volume control, and a pedal that can function as a clean boost. Sharing his personal sound-making know-how, such as mixing the amp's drive channel with the pedal's clean boost, Jo Jung-chi expressed his intention to deliver an interesting performance with this prepared pedalboard.
