Troye Sivan Releases 'FF', a Love Song Dedicated to a Man He Has Yet to Meet

Troye Sivan has begun a new musical journey by releasing his fourth studio album [She's the Best]. This album is the result of capturing the intense euphoria experienced over the past few years along with the solitude and longing that lie behind it.

Troye Sivan defined this album as a "painting that captures my life in all its moods and colors." He explained regarding the album, "There are parts that have a truly intense and grand energy, and other songs feel like the inside of my heart." In particular, following the global success and tour of his previous work [Something to Give Each Other], he stated that he "captured the flip side of tour life, returning to an empty hotel room, with almost uncomfortable truthfulness."

Longing for a Future Lover, the Single 'FF'

'FF', one of the key tracks of the album, is a love song containing the feelings of wanting someone he has not yet met. Jack Antonoff, George Daniel, Cirkut, Madison Love, Leland, and Jasper Harris participated in the songwriting, composition, and production. Troye Sivan introduced this song as an "unchanging love song dedicated to a man I do not yet know" and "a song about someone I think I do not know yet." He added that this song is "the deepest longing, and a song about how lonely it is to love someone who is not yet here."

The music video was directed by Gordon von Steiner. Filmed against the backdrop of Fire Island, a historic hub for the LGBTQ+ community, the video moves between beaches and indoor spaces, portraying intimacy and desire with a cinematic sense. The video focuses on capturing the anticipation held within the song and the emotions of being captivated by someone yet to be met.

Creative Freedom Found in a Home Office

This album is also a creative turning point for Troye Sivan. He took on the role of producer for the first time during this work and recorded a large portion of the album's vocals himself in his home office. This was a process of returning to the freedom of the days when he made music in his childhood bedroom.

Regarding the goal of this work, he said, "I wanted to make something that only I could make," and "People are smart, and I sincerely wanted to create something interesting and complex." The album showcases his expanded musical world, covering various themes such as 'She's the Best', which highlights femininity and femme identity, and 'Party', which captures the ecstasy of nightlife.
