Motive Pictures to lead global production model with new film

| NBNTV = Ju Hyeon-ung | Motive Pictures, a production company that has already released two films in Vietnam, is expanding its commercial film business in the country by developing its next project and establishing local operational bases.

The upcoming project is a crime-action drama that will feature both Korean and Vietnamese actors, with approximately 80% of filming scheduled to take place in Korea.

Motive Pictures (CEO Kim Dae-geun) announced a business model where the Korean production company manages planning and production while collaborating with local Vietnamese production and distribution networks.

The company previously released the film '2037', directed by Mo Hong-jin, which Motive Pictures directly invested in and produced.

It also produced the Korea-Vietnam co-production 'Leaving Mom'. Directed by Mo Hong-jin and starring Tuan Tran, Hong Dao, and Jung Il-woo, the film recorded cumulative sales of approximately 172 billion dong in Vietnam, ranking number one at the local box office.

For its next project, the company is moving forward with the film 'Way Back Home'. It will be directed by Mo Hong-jin and Kim Yeong-su, and will star Tuan Tran and Jung Il-woo, who both appeared in 'Leaving Mom'.

'Way Back Home' is a crime-action drama following the friendship and solidarity between 'Bi', a Vietnamese man who travels to Korea to protect his family, and 'Ilpyo', a Korean man.

Approximately 80% of the total filming is scheduled to be conducted in Korea, with Motive Pictures overseeing the overall planning and production.

The company is also working to establish local business bases in Vietnam, with plans to set up hubs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Hanoi base will handle production support, such as location scouting and cooperation with local studios, while the Ho Chi Minh City base will manage investment, distribution, marketing, and local networking.

The Korean headquarters will oversee planning, intellectual property (IP) management, overall production, content technology R&D, and overseas distribution. The company added that it is also engaged in international co-production projects with countries including Japan and Thailand.
