Choi Daniel opens up about his obsession with time on podcast

Actor Choi Daniel recently connected with fans by sharing his daily struggles and inner thoughts through his YouTube channel.

In a podcast video (ep.04) uploaded to his YouTube channel 'Choi Daniel,' he introduced his new broadcasting setup, featuring a new audio interface and headset. At the start of the video, he demonstrated his enjoyment of the new gear by creating sound effects and performing role-play scenarios while reading stories. Noting that the equipment is intuitive and beginner-friendly, he expressed interest in launching a future segment dedicated to reading listener stories.

"If a day were 48 hours long"... His self-imposed 'obsession with time'

After introducing his equipment, Choi continued with a candid conversation regarding his recent psychological state. He confessed to being caught in an "obsession with time," explaining that his intense desire to use every moment efficiently leads to frustration and anxiety if he feels his day hasn't been productive enough.

"Because I am so fixated on not wanting to waste time, I developed an obsession," he said, adding, "It reaches the point where I wish a day were 48 hours instead of 24 hours." He further explained that this compulsion leads him to work late into the night, disrupting his sleep cycle and creating a vicious loop where sleeping during the day leads to staying up all night, making it difficult to manage his physical condition.

"Curiosity and pressure regarding the invisible"

Choi offered deep reflection on the roots of this obsession and his personal disposition. He explained that since childhood, he has felt more curiosity and pressure regarding "invisible things," such as air or radio waves, rather than tangible physical objects. He revealed that he often contemplates how "the world contains much more that is invisible than what is visible."

He also recalled a past anecdote regarding his own flaws. He shared that during a previous content shoot, fellow artist Henry asked him what his weaknesses were; at the time, he felt regretful because he couldn't find a serious answer. Closing the video with his characteristic honesty, he remarked, "Thinking eccentric thoughts might be a flaw, but I'm not sure if that is truly a weakness."
