Ahn Bo-hyun teases 'enemies' chemistry with Jung Eun-chae in 'Chaebol X Detective 2'
Ahn Bo-hyun and Jung Eun-chae discuss character evolutions and new tension in the upcoming 'Chaebol X Detective 2'.
Violent Crimes Team 1 is back and ready to build on the success of Season 1, returning with fresh faces. The lead cast of the drama 'Chaebol X Detective 2' recently gathered to discuss the show's evolving tone, character developments, and the atmosphere on set. This season promises deeper, multi-dimensional entertainment as new tension is added to the team's established chemistry.

"It feels like starting a new school year": Ahn Bo-hyun on Jin-su and Season 2
Ahn Bo-hyun, who played the central character Jin-su in Season 1, expressed his deep sentiments about reuniting with his teammates after two years. Noting that the director, staff, and most of the cast—with the exception of Jung Eun-chae—have remained the same, Ahn remarked that it felt like starting a new school year after winter break. His comments reflect how much he has missed the team during the long wait for this project.
Regarding Jin-su's return, the character embodies both consistency and change. While Ahn emphasized that Jin-su remains just as wealthy and playful as before, he noted a significant change in his hairstyle. Moving away from the 'Tang-gu-reut cut' that defined Season 1, he opted for a more subtle, sophisticated style to reflect the character's new challenges. In addition to action sequences that leverage Ahn's real-life boxing experience, he is also set to showcase impressive driving skills as he hunts down criminals.
The luxury props supporting Jin-su's glamorous lifestyle also stood out. Discussing Jin-su's house and car, Ahn pointed to a specific brand of motorcycle helmet and large picture frames in the house as items that triggered his sense of possession. These detailed settings, combined with high-end visual aesthetics, are expected to enhance viewer immersion.
Jung Eun-chae joins the cast, bringing new tension as 'Devil Instructor' Joo Hye-ra
The most significant change this season is the addition of Jung Eun-chae, who plays Joo Hye-ra, the new leader of Violent Crimes Team 1. Having built a diverse filmography, Jung stated she was drawn to the character of Joo Hye-ra because of the genre's refreshing and cathartic qualities.
Despite this being her first foray into the genre, she shared that she is adapting smoothly to the set and enjoying filming thanks to the support of her teammates. The dynamic between the new leader, Joo Hye-ra, and the existing team is a key highlight. Jung described Ahn as "Jin-su himself, popping right out of the drama," and shared her impressions of the charismatic Kang Sang-jun and the charming Kim Shin-bi. When asked about her synchronization with the character Joo Hye-ra, she humorously replied, "about 50%," poking fun at the gap between her cold character and her own warm personality.
Describing the color of Violent Crimes Team 1 as 'fluorescent yellow,' the season promises a more vibrant palette with the addition of Joo Hye-ra, a leader who possesses fearsome charisma but also a surprising love for cute dolls. Fans are eager to see how the team handles new cases as they navigate the new 'enemies-style' tension added to their existing chemistry.
