Violist Park Ha-yang named Artist-in-Residence for 26th Daejeon International Music Festival
Violist Park Ha-yang will perform as Artist-in-Residence at the 26th Daejeon International Music Festival, featuring works by Benjamin Britten.
| NBNTV = Ju Hyeon-ung | Violist Park Ha-yang has been named the Artist-in-Residence for the 26th Daejeon International Music Festival, where she will present a series of performances.
From July 23 to August 13, Park will perform three collaborative concerts with violinist Steven Kim. The festival program commemorates the 50th anniversary of composer Benjamin Britten's passing by featuring his works.
The first performance, titled 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' will be held on August 2 at the Seoul Arts Center Art Hall. The program will feature Britten's 'Double Concerto for Violin and Viola,' composed during his youth.
The second performance, titled 'Peace, Friendship, and Reconciliation,' will take place on August 4 at the Seoul Arts Center Ensemble Hall. The repertoire includes works by Britten alongside chamber music by Mozart, Penderecki, and Brahms.
The final stage, titled 'Extremes and Everything in Between,' will be held on August 7 at the same venue. This program will showcase classical works by Dowland, Telemann, Bach, and Schubert, as well as Britten's reinterpreted pieces.
Park, who won first place at the 2022 Tokyo International Viola Competition, completed the Advanced Artist Program at the Kronberg Academy and is currently active in Europe, Japan, and Korea. She has performed in a duo with Steven Kim for three years.
