KBS has released script reading footage for the upcoming 'Sound:Track' series, which follows various characters navigating life through music. The anthology features stories ranging from the grief of losing a pet to the dreams of twenty-nine-year-olds, ahead of its November 18 premiere.

Characters tracing different life trajectories through the medium of music will converge into a single playlist. Ahead of the November 18 premiere of KBS Drama Special 2026 'Sound:Track', footage of the cast script reading session has been released.

Longing for a Pet and Healing Through Music

The first episode, 'More Than the Scent of Spring, You to Me', depicts the sorrow of losing a pet and the process of cherishing those memories. Kang Hye-sim and Woo Da-vi lead the drama as Ju-in and Na-eun, respectively. Na-eun is a character experiencing the sense of loss after losing a pet, and she is expected to show a process of gradual healing as she meets people through music. Woo Da-vi explained that her character embodies a "process of moving forward," much like her name.

Kim Hyun-jin, playing Lee Jun-young, is an aspiring film director who shares the pain of losing a pet, much like Na-eun. Kim mentioned his recent experience of losing a pet dog, stating that he is approaching filming with deep empathy for the character's sorrow. The characters in the drama are composed of individuals with different charms and are expected to deliver comfort and empathy to viewers.

Discovering the True Self Amidst Imperfection

Another episode, 'After the Play Is Over', deals with character growth and choices. Lee Ki-taek plays Hae-mi, a PD with a warm interior who wraps herself in a prickly exterior due to past wounds. Hae-mi is a multi-dimensional character with a strong sense of duty and a tendency to resolve problems transparently, though her strength sometimes reveals vulnerabilities.

Lee Ki-taek revealed that through the script, he came to reinterpret the song 'After the Play Is Over'. He explained that while he previously felt the music was a depressing piece, it came to him as a sense of fullness and brightness felt alone on a stage after everything has ended, coinciding with Hae-mi's character. The process of Hae-mi learning how to take care of herself through her character's changes is expected to be a major point of interest.

Meanwhile, 'When My Loneliness Calls You' tells the story of Jin-woo, a man who hides loneliness behind kindness, and So-jung, who keenly perceives the loneliness of others. Joo Jong-hyuk plays Jin-woo, who appears cheerful and sweet but harbors deep stories, while Park Yu-rim plays So-jung, who conveys love by staying by someone's side rather than through words. The two actors focused on the contrast of the characters' loneliness and the ensemble formed within it.

The Summer of Youth Chasing the Dream of Film at Twenty-Nine

Finally, 'By Summer' captures the intense friendship of three young people chasing the common dream of film. Starring Seo Su-bin, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Da-bin, this work portrays the conflicts and growth experienced by twenty-nine-year-olds as they face their respective realities. The protagonists include Su-bin, who supports her friends with a bright and warm personality; Hyeon, who possesses a cool charm and looks after friends in a seemingly indifferent way; and Han-gyeol, an unknown actor who runs steadily toward his dream.

Seo Su-bin mentioned the fear of being unable to let go of relationships through the character of Han-gyeol. She analyzed that beyond simply drifting apart from friends, the vague fear that the shared dream might disappear serves as the motivation for the character's actions. The actors stated that the characters, placed in different stages of life at ages 19 and 29, will show a slice of youth through their attitudes toward reality and their subsequent changes.
