In the cool autumn, Netflix has revealed a new lineup of works for viewers who want to binge-watch all night. This week, a variety of genres are prepared, ranging from romantic comedies to medical noir, spy period dramas, crime thrillers, political thrillers, and sports documentaries.

Contracts to Survive and Geniuses Facing Challenges with Skill

The first work to catch the eye is the romantic comedy series 'Take Charge of My Heart' starring Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin. It depicts a 'charging romance' that unfolds when Baek Ho-rang, a third-generation chaebol whose artificial heart battery is at risk of running out, meets Na Bo-bae, a drama writer whose entire body carries electricity. Baek Ho-rang is in a situation where he needs a human battery to maintain his position within the group during a management dispute, and Na Bo-bae accepts a three-month cohabitation contract until her re-operation. In the video, Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin mentioned that they put a lot of effort into the ending scenes due to the beautiful background, and they shared that they had a pleasant time filming with Oh Dong-won, who plays the role of Mun Gi-seo.

The following medical noir, 'Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia', captures the process of genius surgeon Gae Su-jeong (played by Kim Ji-won) finding a breakthrough against corrupt forces within the hospital with overwhelming surgical skills. Kim Ji-won revealed that she practiced surgical techniques with specialists to express the character and prepared a rough bob cut and comfortable outfits. She added that while the filming site maintained tense tension during shots, it was a healing space where everyone played around as soon as the "cut" was called. This work will be released on October 9.

Dangerous Lies and Spy Warfare Unfolding in Keijō

'100 Days of Deception', releasing on October 10, is a spy romance where Kim You-jung and J.Y. Park work together. It tells the 100-day story of Lee Ga-gyeong (played by Kim You-jung), the best pickpocket in Keijō, who becomes an informant for the independence fighters and meets Sato Hideo (played by J.Y. Park), an interpreter for the Government-General of Korea. Ga-gyeong dreams of going to America but ends up infiltrating as an interpreter for the Government-General of Korea after being recruited by the independence organization National Salvation Corps.

J.Y. Park said he more than doubled his usual practice amount to play the perfect interpreter in the drama. Kim You-jung also put effort into language preparation, such as taking lessons from a Japanese teacher, and stated that she approached filming with a special mindset while looking at scripts containing the actual handwriting of independence activists. In the video, an anecdote was shared where the atmosphere was so realistic that staff members even practiced hiding things in their pockets because Kim You-jung's pickpocketing hand movements were so natural.

New Releases Continuing from Thrillers to Sports Challenges

The lineup for genre fans is also solid. The crime thriller 'Beasts' starring Ben Affleck deals with the choices of Mark, a politician who must destroy his perfect daily life to save his kidnapped son. Additionally, season 4 of the political thriller 'The Diplomat' starring Keri Russell continues the story of the protagonist Kate Wyler, who navigates between power and her marriage amidst international crises. To protect peace, Kate joins hands with the president's husband Todd and experiences conflict with her husband Harry. This work is scheduled to be released on October 15.

'Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2', targeting sports fans, captures the challenge of volleyball emperor Kim Yeon-koung leading the team Wonder Dogs with the goal of founding a professional club. This documentary, which tells the story of a team standing at the crossroads of founding and dissolution amidst the offensive of former teammates and clashes with the strongest players, will be released on October 10.

Meanwhile, in connection with the 31st Busan International Film Festival, Netflix is conducting various programs to celebrate its 10th anniversary by presenting a total of five invited works, including director Lee Chang-dong's new work 'Possible Love', director Brad Bird's animation 'Reagan', the horror 'Koralba', the investigative drama 'Blue Road', and the animation 'Like Our Waves'.
