Mabo launches largest app overhaul in 10 years to track mental well-being
Mindfulness app Mabo celebrates its 10th anniversary with a major update, introducing 'Heart Weather' and new features to track emotional changes.
| NBNTV = Reporter Kim Min-ho | Mindfulness meditation app Mabo announced on the 23rd that it has completely overhauled its app to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its service launch. This is the largest update since its release in 2016 and has been applied simultaneously to both iOS and Android platforms.

While consistency is key to meditation, users often find it difficult to visually track their progress and may feel burdened by the need to write long entries about their emotional state. To address these issues, Mabo has redesigned the app to go beyond simply listening to meditation content, allowing users to easily record their feelings and review their emotional trends after each session.
The core feature is 'Heart Weather,' which allows users to record their state after meditation by comparing it to weather conditions. Even on days when it is difficult to express emotions and thoughts in sentences, users can simply select a weather type to log their state. Once a month's worth of records are accumulated, the app provides a 'Heart Retrospect' to help users review their emotional changes during that period.
A new social feature has also been added to allow users to share their records. Personal records are not exposed arbitrarily; only meditation diaries that users explicitly choose to make public will be visible to others.
The existing 'My Info' tab has been reorganized into the 'My' tab, enabling users to view consecutive meditation days, monthly records, and cumulative meditation time and frequency at a glance. iOS users can also utilize home screen widgets and improved Apple Watch meditation functions. The design system for Light and Dark modes has been unified, and the login and sign-up processes have been streamlined.
“Meditation does not end with just listening to content; it is training to notice how one's heart has changed afterward,” said Yu Jeong-eun, CEO of Mabo. “The 560,000 meditation diaries left by users over the past 10 years are records of their steady observation of their own hearts.”
She added, “Through this overhaul, we will develop Mabo into an everyday mental training tool where people can check their hearts every day and restore their inner standards.”
The updated features are available to all users, including both free and paid subscribers, once they update to the latest version.
Mabo has recorded 1 million cumulative downloads, 500,000 subscribers, and 560,000 meditation diaries. As it reaches its 10th anniversary in 2026, the service continues its re-growth trend, with monthly active users increasing by 15% and new paid subscribers increasing by 20% compared to the previous year.
