KuCoin supports CROSS rebranding to ONEchain

KuCoin is the first VASP to support the CROSS brand transition to ONEchain following NEXUS's acquisition of OneStore, with no service interruptions.

Following NEXUS's acquisition of OneStore last month, it was announced that the existing mainnet and native token would be renamed to ONEchain and ONE, respectively. Among the Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) currently trading the asset, KuCoin was the first to announce the brand change.

According to KuCoin on the 24th, the code name CROSS will be maintained, while only the brand name changes from CROSS to ONEchain. While typical project rebrandings often involve complex issues regarding swaps, networks, or circulating supply changes, this specific transition involves only the brand name, meaning there will be no suspension of deposits or withdrawals.

This move is interpreted as a way to avoid duplication, as Harmony also uses the code name ONE, similar to Korbit. Consequently, KuCoin has opted to change only the brand name rather than using ONE1 to prevent confusion. With KuCoin setting this precedent by proactively updating the name, other VASPs handling CROSS are expected to follow suit.

Currently, cryptocurrency statistics sites such as CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko are still using CROSS, and in Korea, Coinone and Korbit have not yet issued notices regarding brand change support.

However, since there are no technical issues such as changes to wallet addresses or service maintenance, the rush to rename CROSS to ONEchain is expected to continue.
