HUI prepares for first solo concert 'HUI : A Boy's Confession'... planning a stage centered on band live and piano
Singer HUI is preparing for her first solo concert, focusing on a band live performance and a stage design featuring piano. A recently released behind-the-scenes video shows the discussions between the artist and the production team regarding the overall mood, song composition, and stage direction.
Singer HUI is preparing a stage composition featuring band live music and her own direct arrangements ahead of her first solo concert. In the recently released concert meeting behind-the-scenes video, the discussion process between the artist and the production team regarding the overall mood, song composition, and stage direction of the performance was captured.
Aiming for an 'unplugged' stage with a high proportion of band live music
HUI expressed her desire to attempt a performance with a band set for the first time during this concert, requesting arrangements that increase the proportion of the live band rather than the MR (accompaniment music). In particular, she plans to attempt musical changes, such as transforming dance songs into minimal versions or starting with re-performances. In the video, HUI conveyed her wish to configure the stage "so that she can do keyboard playing," and held detailed discussions with the production team regarding the placement of the keyboard and her movement on stage.
Regarding the identity of the performance, the focus was placed on 'HUI who sings.' The production team suggested a direction, saying, "We want to focus heavily on HUI singing, so we hope it will be a HUI who is focused on music and singing." Accordingly, ideas such as her singing while using a standing microphone or a segment where she sings lightly and gives comments while playing the keyboard were discussed.
From 'You Are' to unreleased songs... a setlist consisting of 15 to 17 songs
The song composition for the performance is planned to be between approximately 15 and 17 songs. HUI mentioned 'You Are,' which is deeply meaningful to her, and PENTAGON's 'Lights' as intro songs to signal the start of the performance, suggesting a plan to increase the concentration of the performance by making the intros of these songs longer.
In the latter half of the performance, songs for communicating with fans will be placed. HUI mentioned the unreleased song 'I Love You So Much,' which she performed at a past festival, expressing her wish to conclude by delivering a message of love to the fans. Additionally, she revealed her ambition to make full use of the encore stage, saying she "wants to sing to her heart's content before coming down."
Stage direction that starts with piano playing and ends with piano
In terms of stage direction, a dramatic start utilizing the piano was discussed. A production plan was presented where she starts with piano playing from a location other than the center of the stage, and HUI walks into the stage while singing plainly. This is a strategy to imprint the impression of 'HUI who sings' on the audience through a composition that starts with the piano and ends with the piano.
Discussions continued regarding the concert title, 'HUI : A Boy's Confession.' HUI is contemplating the most meaningful title for herself, and the production team shared the opinion that the name 'HUI : A Boy's Confession,' which contains a 'story of growing from a boy,' fits well with the nature of the performance.
