Global Technology and ADS Tech partner for Micro LED mass production

NBNTV = Joo Hyun-woong. Global Technology, a specialist in Micro LED driver semiconductor design, is partnering with ADS Tech to develop mass production processes and equipment. The two companies plan to integrate driver IC and packaging/module technologies with equipment processes and will jointly pursue the localization of core equipment components that currently rely on imports.

Global Technology announced on the 22nd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ADS Tech, a specialist in optical communication and semiconductor equipment, on the 21st. The agreement aims to establish a Micro LED mass production ecosystem and localize core equipment components.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate in developing processes and equipment for Micro LED mass production, localizing core components used in ADS Tech equipment, and responding to both domestic and international markets.

As a fabless company specializing in LED driver semiconductors (LDI), Global Technology possesses technologies ranging from Micro LED driver IC design to ultra-small packaging (TSV) and modularization. ADS Tech develops optical communication and semiconductor back-end process equipment and holds advanced precision process technology.

The two companies intend to focus on developing the processes and equipment necessary for Micro LED mass production by combining their respective strengths, specifically linking Global Technology's IC design and module technologies with ADS Tech's equipment expertise.

A representative from Global Technology explained, "The key to Micro LED commercialization is not individual technologies, but a mass production ecosystem where processes, equipment, and components are interconnected. Through this cooperation, we will accelerate the commercialization of Micro LED by building an ecosystem that connects design, process, and equipment."

The localization of equipment and core components is also a primary objective. The two companies have decided to pursue the localization of relevant equipment and components that currently depend on imports.
