Expressing his apologies for not being able to be present at the scene, Choo Sung-hoon prepared a spread that gathered premium Korean ingredients. The menu consisted of so-called "delicacies from land and sea," including Hanwoo beef, four packs of sea urchin, caviar, and sweet shrimp. In particular, dishes featuring whole sea urchin and menus accompanied by caviar drew significant attention. The meal featured a configuration where a whole plate of sea urchin could fit into a rice bowl, followed by a series of dishes combining seaweed, sweet shrimp, and caviar.
During the meal, the mother-in-law expressed admiration for the splendor of the prepared food. Choo Sung-hoon conveyed his sincerity in carefully preparing the meal for her. The mother-in-law savored the food, stating, "It feels like a waste to even swallow it," while Choo Sung-hoon expressed satisfaction with the course he prepared for her. Makgeolli was also served during the meal.
"We don't eat this in Japan": A challenge of K-seafood involving long-arm octopus and spoon worm
As the meal continued, the menu transitioned to seafood with strong Korean characteristics. To introduce Korean seafood that is difficult to encounter in Japan, Choo Sung-hoon prepared long-arm octopus and spoon worm as the next course. The long-arm octopus was selected as a restorative food to replenish energy, while the spoon worm added tension to the scene with its unfamiliar texture and appearance.
When the spoon worm appeared, the mother-in-law showed hesitation and aversion due to its unfamiliar look. Choo Sung-hoon explained the characteristics of Korean seafood, noting, "There used to be many in Japan as well, but they are rare these days." Due to the unfamiliar texture and appearance of the spoon worm, the meal continued with moments of tension as people attempted to tackle some of the dishes. The 'Chooflex' course prepared by Choo Sung-hoon involved challenging moments due to the unfamiliar ingredients, with the exception of the first dish.
