“I’m Not Mom’s Son, Am I?” Blood-Type Shock Drives Son to Run Away as Family Secret Unravels

Secrets long buried in the name of family are surfacing one after another, pushing the drama’s tension to its highest point. The KBS drama 'Love Is Coming' follows its characters as they gather the fragments of a broken family and try to build a warmer life from them. At the same time, the story is delving deeply into the complicated biological ties among its characters and the emotional wounds that have opened between them.

A Blood Type Discovery Shakes the Family’s Foundations

The most dramatic change begins with the identity crisis confronting Han-gyeol, played by Yun Ha-bin. After learning about blood types at school, Han-gyeol realizes that his own blood type makes it impossible for him to have been born to Gyu-rim, played by An Hee-yeon. What begins as a lesson in the classroom becomes a devastating challenge to everything he has believed about himself and his family.

“I’m not my mom’s son, am I?” Han-gyeol cries out. His words are more than a simple question: they reveal the shock of watching the family world he trusted collapse around him. Unable to endure the confusion, Han-gyeol runs away from home and goes in search of Mu-jin, played by Ha Seok-jin. His departure moves the story into a new phase, with the truth about the family no longer easy to contain.

Behind Han-gyeol’s confusion is a confession from Yun-hui, played by Yun Yu-seon. Yun-hui tells Hun-tae, played by Kwon Hae-hyo, that Gyu-rim is her biological daughter, finally exposing the truth she had kept hidden. The revelation brings the family’s tangled biological relationships into the open and gives new meaning to the questions now overwhelming Han-gyeol.

Hun-tae, meanwhile, is driven to lie as an unavoidable way of making Seo-hyeon, played by Lee Ju-yeon, give up. His choice intensifies the conflict between those trying to reveal the truth and those attempting to keep it covered. The characters are no longer divided only by what happened in the past, but also by the different decisions they make as that past begins to surface.

Jin-gyeong also comes to understand the circumstances behind Hun-tae’s earlier behavior. She finally realizes why he once treated Gyu-rim like a gold digger and made claims that seemed to make no sense. With the reasons behind those actions becoming clearer, the relationships among the characters begin to shift and take on a different shape.

Conflicting Choices and Ambitions Keep the Characters Moving

The relationships in 'Love Is Coming' extend beyond questions of blood and parentage. Each character’s personal desires and choices make the family entanglement even more complicated. As hidden truths collide with individual ambitions, every attempt to repair one relationship has the potential to affect another.

Mu-jin takes devoted care of Han-gyeol and tries to help restore his relationship with Gyu-rim. His actions show a sincere desire to bring the fractured family closer together. Han-gyeol, however, has already been deeply hurt, and he does not readily open his heart despite Mu-jin’s efforts.

Han-gyeol’s resistance, even in the face of Mu-jin’s genuine concern, suggests that rebuilding a family will not be a simple process. Care and good intentions alone cannot immediately erase the confusion created by the blood-type discovery or repair the emotional damage caused by the secrets surrounding him. The distance Han-gyeol maintains underscores how difficult family recovery can be once trust has been shaken.

Gyu-yeong, played by Park Yu-na, adds another source of tension to the drama. After officially registering her marriage to Seong-uk, played by Go Yun, she appears to have established a stable relationship. Behind that appearance of stability, however, she is shown moving forward with even greater ambitions of her own.

Gyu-yeong’s ambitious course contrasts with Mu-jin’s efforts to bring the family together, pointing to a new axis of conflict in the developments ahead. While Mu-jin concentrates on care, reconciliation and the restoration of damaged bonds, Gyu-yeong continues to pursue her own aims. Their opposing directions add another layer to a story already complicated by concealed parentage and fractured trust.

Seo-hyeon also makes a consequential choice. After Mu-jin draws a clear boundary with her, she decides to send him toward Gyu-rim. With every character making decisions from a different position, attention now turns to the repercussions those choices will have on one another and on the family ties already under severe strain.
