KickFlip, torn clothes, and rainy sets... The making-of process for the 'Puzzle Piece' music video

The group KickFlip shared behind-the-scenes stories with fans through a making-of video capturing the filming site of their new song 'Puzzle Piece'. The released video contains detailed footage of the members performing choreography on the filming set and participating in the shoot while wearing various concept outfits.

"Consolation for an uncertain future"... The meaning of 'Puzzle Piece' contained in the song

The members of KickFlip expressed their direct thoughts on the message held by this new song, 'Puzzle Piece'. In the video, the members explained that this song is a performance containing a message of consolation for people thinking about an uncertain future. In particular, mentioning that the 'Mi' in 'Mi-wan-seong' (incomplete) is the character for beauty (美), they emphasized the core meaning of the song: "Existence itself is a beautiful completion." The members reaffirmed the theme of the song, saying, "We are already a beautiful completion just by existing. This is exactly what 'Puzzle Piece' is."

From torn clothing to water truck filming... Diverse music video concepts

The music video filming proceeded with various sets and concepts. In the video, the members even wore clothing in a torn style to capture the feeling of the title 'Puzzle Piece'. One member speculated on the filming concept, saying, "Since the title is 'Puzzle Piece', I think they tried to emphasize the feeling of being unfinished through the clothes." Additionally, regarding the composition of the set, they shared their opinion, saying, "To match the feeling of being incomplete, they used a lot of square and somewhat angular things. I think that might be the point of being incomplete."

The filming concluded with a scene using a water truck. The members, who prepared a water truck to direct a scene where it rains, conveyed the atmosphere on set, saying, "It feels so good, like in animations or dramas when it suddenly rains on a protagonist who is sad and they have to do everything alone." After finishing the final shoot, the members expressed anticipation for the completed music video, saying, "Since the rain is falling, the youth atmosphere is truly beautiful. It fits the lyrics perfectly."

From memories before debut to a love for basketball... Members' daily lives and sincere conversations

The making-of video included glimpses of the members' personal stories and the atmosphere on set in between filming. One member recalled that the filming location this time is similar to the place where they filmed their 'Introduction Video' before debut, bringing back memories of the past. Mentioning the coldness at that time and the emotions they felt while worrying inside the bus, they added that because they are "actually doing things I experienced, it feels like I can immerse myself in the emotions more."

Furthermore, a member who loves basketball mentioned that they had also introduced themselves through basketball in the past Introduction Video, and showed the basketball uniform worn during this shoot and the number 23, which is Michael Jordan's jersey number. At the filming site, natural chemistry added liveliness to the scene, as members played pranks on each other, responded to choreography that was changed on the day of filming, and shared conversations while eating pickled garlic scapes.
