"The habit of presenting a curated version"... Yoo Byung Jae reveals his genius obsession
In the video, Yoo used the expression "genius obsession" to describe how he plans and presents his content. He explained that because of a desire for recognition since he was young, it has become a habit to curate and present a specific version of himself. He mentioned that this tendency is also linked to being cast in observational variety shows, expressing concern that if he were to show his raw self, the filmed footage might not be entertaining.
Yoo added that while he may appear to be acting on instinct, there is actually an aspect of him trying to present a thoroughly calculated image. He stated that this is also related to his concern that if he reveals himself too rawly, his sense of mystery might diminish.
"Mixing legacy and new media"... Lee Eun-ji's shift in production direction
Lee Eun-ji shared the struggles she faced while producing YouTube content and the production direction she chose to resolve them. She said she moved away from her past method of filming YouTube videos alone and sending them to an editor for case-by-case uploads, transitioning instead to a team-based approach for everything from planning to filming and composition. She explained that during this process, she even received feedback that her content felt too "legacy (traditional media)-like.'
In response, Lee revealed that she decided not to distinguish between legacy and new media, but rather to mix the characteristics of both. She said she would take the high-quality planning capabilities of legacy media while also incorporating the sudden, raw feel and fast transitions unique to new media. Lee added that not being "legacy" does not mean being low quality, and that combining the characteristics of new media while maintaining high quality made her feel more at ease.
Standardized patterns and comments in observational variety shows
The cast members also discussed the typical comments and patterns frequently used in observational variety shows. Lee mentioned that when the VCR of an observational variety show begins, it often starts with a comment like "The weather is nice." She also cited ways of mentioning trends, such as "That's what's hot these days" or "That's what's trending lately," as common patterns in variety shows.
Yoo mentioned that for the past 10 years, whenever stories about AI came up, he had repeatedly made comments along the lines of saying he would solve the problem, noting that there are patterns that entertainers repeatedly use regarding specific topics.
