Ko Young-bae, a member of the band Soran, introduced unique performance planning aimed at treating fans' "dopamine addiction" alongside his musical endeavors.
"Please hand in your phones at the entrance"... 'Ko Young-bae's Mild Dopamine Addiction Treatment Concert' that treats dopamine addiction
In a video from 'The Seasons' released through KBS WORLD TV, Ko Young-bae explained in detail about 'Ko Young-bae's Mild Dopamine Addiction Treatment Concert', which he first presented this year. This performance, titled 'Ko Young-bae's Mild Dopamine Addiction Treatment Concert', was planned to relieve the dopamine addiction of modern people.
Ko Young-bae specified the operational method of the performance. A unique feature is that instead of collecting all audience members' mobile phones at the entrance of the venue, paper and pens are distributed. The process proceeds in a way where audience members write their reviews on paper whenever a bell rings after a song ends. He also added that the venue will be operated with a configuration that gives a "feeling of being treated," such as placing mats in the photo zone so people can do acupressure, and taking photos together wearing modernized Hanbok after the performance.
From 'Soaked Show' to 'Lens-Free Festival'... Unstoppable performance planning
Ko Young-bae revealed his side as a performance planner by presenting various planning ideas that break away from existing standardized performance frameworks. Drawing from his past experience of performing while being rained on, he revealed that he is designing a 'Soaked Show' (tentatively titled Soaked Show) that uses jars and ladles to spray water instead of water cannons. In particular, he mentioned a specific operational principle to keep the stage dry to prevent electric shock accidents due to the nature of band performances.
Furthermore, he revealed a festival idea called 'Lens-Free Festival' (tentative name), where artists who do not wear glasses gather. He mentioned fellow artists who do not wear glasses, such as Peppertones, and shared specific lineup ideas including 10cm and Lee Seok-hoon.
Fundamentals built by copying Sung Si-kyung, new album 'Layer' to be released in September
The story continued regarding his musical growth process. Ko Young-bae, who majored in classical music, stated that he debuted without separate lessons. He shared his experience of self-teaching things like vibrato by copying Sung Si-kyung's songs in the past. Ko Young-bae said, "During my senior year of high school, I enjoyed listening to and singing along to senior Sung Si-kyung's 'We Were Simple, We Were Happy'," and noted that the habits of copying from that time remain in his current singing style.
Meanwhile, Ko Young-bae is scheduled to release his new album 'Layer' on September 18. This mini album will contain a total of five songs, including the three songs released this year and two new songs. The title track is 'Just Before Goodbye', and Ko Young-bae plans to meet fans through a winter concert to be held at LG Arts Center in late November.
